extended studs from 20 mm vs. 10 mm spacer

Ok heres my problem.

I have 20 mm spacers with the extended studs on my car. I want to run 10 mm now and changing out the studs is very inconvenient. I am aware that with the 10 mm spacers, the studs will protrude about .4".

Will I need to change the studs to the ones that come with the 10 mm or will the current studs I'm running work fine? Do I need to use open ended lugs if I leave my current studs on (ones that come with 20 mm)?

Any help will be appreciated
Thank you

if you know you're not going back to the 20mm, just cut the studs while on the car. use a grinder and tap the stud clean at the end with a threader tool.
