Tpms?

Hey everyone, looking for a few words here:

I recently bought a new wheel to replace the one I busted from a small incident a couple months back. Sooner than later, the TPMS came on. I guess I thought it would "match up" and work with the existing sensors but it was just wishful thinking.

I've been looking up as much as I can about the TPMS to see if I can do this myself because I feel that the dealer will just wrench out more money from my wallet. They also took off the original valve stem cap so now I have mismatched caps (nothing serious but very annoying...). That's just a OCD thing though.

For people with aftermarket wheels, how did you deal with the TPMS issue? Has anyone had stock replacements, etc.?

Drive on it for at least 20 miles

The TPMS needs to have its ID registered with the ECU to function properly. Any reputable tire & wheel shop should have the required sensor activation tools and will most likely charge a lot less than a Nissan dealer.

I've read some "tricks" on a G35 forum for doing it yourself without the activation tool, but I don't have much faith in what I've read and even if it did work, it would be at your own risk...

It doen's work "magically" all by itself. As a previous poster mentioned, you need to initialize it with the ECU. A shop who has the correct equipment to do this, for one sensor, would take approximately 1 to 2 minutes to perform. (Pretty easy when you have the thousands of dollar worth of equipment.)

This doesn't work. Discount tire did it for me twice and the light still comes on
