Opinions on SSR wheels please.

First off, i would like to clarify that these wheels are not for my car. (hopefully would like to get a Z car of my own sometime soon).

I want to get a good friend of mine (been friends for over 10 years), some wheels for his car. He has a brand new 370Z, and i want to get him some wheels for his birthday.

I saw these wheels online, and i think they look great, and i have a hookup on some SSR stuff.

What is the consensus on this forum about the style/color of these wheels and recommended offsets for the 370Z.

Any advice and positive help is welcome!

SoCal 370Z 04-02-2009 04:30 PM

The consensus is...can I be your friend too? :excited:

They are really nice wheels. I would probably try to stay close to the stock offset, maybe just a little less, as they will be pushing out a 1/4" more anyway. You will also have to take into consideration whether spacers will be required and how much that will alter things.

Gamedog 04-02-2009 04:55 PM

SRR MS1's are definitely sick.

pencilnink 04-02-2009 07:09 PM

Must be an awesome friend. SSR MS1's are sick, step lip + mesh wheel

Those wheels are the bomb-diggity! Anything that looks like a Volk GT-U is good in my book.

OMGWTFBBQ 04-02-2009 08:17 PM

How about the SSR Type-F?

Bad picture, but you get the idea. Just throwing something out there.

alan93rsa 04-02-2009 11:31 PM

They are nice wheels at their price point. You are a generous person.

The_Zed_car 04-03-2009 11:24 AM

Does anyone have any more pictures of that red G35 with the silver MS1s? Any other good pictures of 370Z/350Zs/G coupes with these wheels on just for referrence?

I try to be generous with extremely close friends, especially ones that have helped me out in many ways in life.

I figure what goes around comes around.

I think if i not wrong,SSR is Taiwanese made,if so i wonder about their Q.C. control.

I am pretty sure you are wrong. SSR is japanese made, and has a rich history of making lightweight, strong, and quality wheels. From what i know, that is one of the reason why they have BMW's "M" Colors.

That is excately what I would get. I also have PG color. Who ever your friend is, hes very lucky guy...

LOU@AMPLIFIED 04-10-2009 05:43 AM

we ordered a set of the MS1'S for one of our customers with a G35. They should be arriving on may 8th. I'll post pics once we get them installed.

MS1'S, one of my favorite wheels, IMHO, Clean mesh wheels will never get old and they look nice on any car you put them on:tup::tup:

Celinicus 04-13-2009 03:26 PM

I would like to see what a set of 19"s look like on a 370. That rendering says those are 20"s and IMO a little too big.

If you do end up getting these for your friend let us know what off-set and wheel size you get and get some pictures. An awesome looking set of wheels for sure :)

The_Zed_car 04-14-2009 05:35 PM

I tried googling for 19inch MS1s on a 370Z, but no luck.

Please post up pictures when you get those MS1s on the G35.

With regards to the "made in Taiwan" comment;

Do we know if SSR outsources labor to Taiwan to make the wheels? I know SSR is a Japanese company, but do we have any proof that their wheels are actually made in Taiwan?

SSR has two factories. One in Yao, Japan, and the other in Nara, Japan. I don't think Chan Chee Hoe (the guy who made that remark) knows what he's talking about. (This is the same guy who asked about Slick 50. I'm just waiting for him to ask about the Turbonator.) If there is any proof that SSR outsources to Taiwan, then I challenge CCH to produce it. I haven't been able to find any after various searches in Google.

Thanks for the reply Semtex.

Here is a link to the SSR website with pics of their new Type F on a Red 370Z.

SSR Wheels News

19 inch appears to be the largest diameter, with 8.5, 9.0, 9.5 and 10.5 inch widths

The_Zed_car 04-27-2009 04:47 PM

Looks like i might be going with the set of these very soon. I talked to SSR and they have a shipment of 20 x 9.5/10.5s in a couple of different colors coming in 370Z fitments.

LiquidZ 04-27-2009 06:57 PM

I'm more than likely going to settle for the SSR's. Volks are a close second though...

The_Zed_car 04-28-2009 11:37 AM

I would call them and find out what colors, sizes and offsets they are coming in....then try to shop around for the best price. :p
