Pulling Rear Fenders

Hey guys I'm taking the car to the shop tomorrow either to dial in the camber a little more or slightly pull the rear fenders. All I need is a little less than a half inch for clearance.

Is it possible to pull our dial rolled rear fenders. I barely need to pull them but just want to be sure it's possible before I go to the shop.

Thanks

kenchan 02-04-2011 06:43 PM

yah, could be pretty easy to do the Z's rear arch cause it's not folded under like most arches are back there. give it a lot of heat and use proper fender rolling tool.

tirerack sells them too.

Stanced370Z 02-04-2011 06:46 PM

The shop has a proper roller and heat gun. I've seen their work and won't trust anyone else down here and sure as hell won't do it myself. Thanks man

OMGWTFBBQ 02-06-2011 10:59 PM

... so any news on how it went?

Stanced370Z 02-06-2011 11:09 PM

I'm calling around bc the shop told me they couldnt guarantee a clean pull without having to do bodywork afterwards. They dialed in the camber a little more, but still have the same issue even though it's significantly less now. I called one place and he guarantees his work, but i'm going to call another shop tomorrow that a friend recommended. I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm sorry I guess I missed it, but what was your original problem?

Stanced370Z 02-06-2011 11:59 PM

20x12 with aggressive offsets is my problem and almost a 3" drop.

bullitt5897 02-07-2011 08:36 AM

What are your camber settings?

You should be able to pull no problem. If the puller is patient... it should come out perfect. I used to do s2000's it took me a couple hours to do a car but my pulls were perfectly smooth. The Z's metal is a lot thinner and since we dont have the lip in the rear should be easy. I say have the guy who guarantees his work do it... this is an art and not everyone has the skill set to do it. If he is comfortable to guarantee his work he must be good!

Stanced370Z 02-07-2011 09:55 AM

My rear camber arms are maxed out at -6.7. Lol i already spoke to a guy that says he can guarantee it but works out of his house yet everyone recommends him for pulling. He uses The proper rolling tool and by his pictures of his work it looks like he knows what hes doing. I'm going to call an actual shop today and see what they say.

kenchan 02-07-2011 10:00 AM

the rear bumper connects to the quarter quite high vs other cars so they might be talking about that. some heat and massaging on the bumper should work but i suppose it depends how much you need to pull it.

Stanced370Z 02-07-2011 10:03 AM

All I need is a 2-3mm it's barely anything

bullitt5897 02-07-2011 10:33 AM

Pm me pics -6.7 is redonkulous!!! Lol

Shoot I did peoples fenders in their driveways with a heat gun and fender roller... If others are recommending him and you have seen his work it sounds legit.

wow, i didnt notice until you mentioned it but yah -6.7 is like driving on the inner sidewall. :icon17: i would definitely NOT drive like that cause you can end up blowing your tire from too much weight on that inner shoulder.

djpathfinder 02-07-2011 10:48 AM

Yeah, you're the one with the Forged Specialties concave wheel posted not too long ago right? Your offsets are about 20 mm too aggressive. Have you considered doing a widebody kit instead, and bringing your camber back to more sane levels? Or, can they fix your wheels and "add" more (+) backspacing? I don't know if that's even possible.

I'm with Bullit. I want to see pictures of the -6.7. That's some serious negative camber.

lol i already know the risks and tire wear i'll be getting. I've been doing aggressive fitments for a while and knew what I was getting myself into.

Nothing is too aggressive if you can make it fit with camber and fender pulling. I understand a lot of ppl aren't into the look and what not but it's what I like, and pushing the limit has always been something that I like to do. Going widebody is out of the question lol, I'll just go more aggressive if I went that route. I wanted this fitment and all I need is 2-3mm more of clearance and I'm set. Not everybody likes HellaFlush or respects what it's about and call it dumb and what not, but with any car modification you're taking risks. And this is something that I like. I'm in the final stages of getting the rears to fit and I'll be good to go. And yes I daily drive the car :D

Also I forgot to mention that when I ordered the wheels I didn't want anything less than a 6.5" lip in the rear, and I got it. Eventually I'll get the fronts out to a 4" or 4.5" bc I still have some room. The front is running -3.5 camber.

Haha. In order to get my car onto the alignment rack at AutoGlitz I had to remove my front bumper. They couldn't get it up the ramp with 2x4's or anything.

Stanced370Z 02-07-2011 11:36 AM

Here's the only picture I have at the moment.

LOL I feel ya!!!

I am at the same drop point as you and my exhaust is 1/4" off the ground hehehe. The only alignment racks I can get onto are in ground applications. That is some serious camber and I think you should be fine with a slight pull. Congrats on the 6.5" lip in the rear!!!

Haha it's part of the game man and thanks. I had two fat guys sit in my trunk and i literally need very little bit to completely tuck on dips. So a slight pull will definitely solve the problem.

W.O.W. 370Z 02-07-2011 01:06 PM

Your offsets are all wrong...

kenchan 02-07-2011 01:15 PM

i suppose for a VIP look that's pretty normal-ish.... :icon14: .... (?) but man that looks terrible for a performance oriented car guy.

Stanced370Z 02-07-2011 01:24 PM

In for pics...props to you for doing that :)

dirTy_shoeZ 03-08-2011 01:49 PM

my z rolled like this and it was fine. ;)

Stanced370Z 03-08-2011 06:41 PM

Alright guys I never updated this thread but I did pull them but needed bodywork afterwards. Our rear fenders don't do well with a pull without bodywork after. The fronts however are great.

metz 03-08-2011 06:49 PM

lets see some pics

Mr&Mrs 03-08-2011 07:08 PM

:iagree:

Stanced370Z 03-08-2011 08:18 PM

Here are the pictures. The first is at the shop getting the rear fixed up from the warping that the pulling did, and the last two are the rear and front fenders pulled. My wheels are sold and I'm probably going to need more bodywork in the future because I plan on going A LOT more aggressive on my next setup, and I might have something in mind with the paint. :)

Intense. Interested to see the new setup.

Junior370z 03-08-2011 11:52 PM

Oooo nice! It looks good! Let's see some rims on that baby!

Zerafian 03-09-2011 07:39 AM

How much did that end up running if you dont mind me asking? I also had my fenders pulled on my Z last year, just want to see if the price is comparable.
