Anywhere to buy stock wheels yet?
 

Long story short, some dumb beotch in my parking area took up a LOT of the exit room in her Durango. I should have waited for her to leave and then turned in (I had the right of way), but I figured I could make it in fine. Which I could have, had I not turned QUITE so early...

Anyway, I have a nice 1" or so spot of curb rash on the wheel. Im just curious if anyone's priced out how much one would be to replace, yet. Or, where to get it, for that matter.

It's a wait-n-watch eBay or this forum type of proposition. Depending on the damage I've seen some pretty good repairs. It helps that the Ray's are painted versus plated or polished.

Agreed. Damage isnt too bad...maybe an inch and a half. I'll get pictures tomorrow. Its a little gouged (you know your wheel found the curb when you get a nice CA-CLUNK rather than feeling the car try to drive up the curb...)

I dont know, Im probably getting better wheels in the future anyway, but maybe I'll get them fixed at some point since while not obvious, I know it'd bug me...

If it is just rash and doesn't need straightening then it can be repainted. The tire needs to be dismounted, the area is sanded and filled if necessary, repainted and re-cleared. There are some places that can make small repairs without dismounting the tire, but it is rash near the tire they probably can't do this.

I did the same thing to my G35 last year when I brushed a large granite curb, was hating myself for a while.

Do a wheel repair, finding a single OEM 19" will be very difficult with the car so new, and dealer costs are outrageous.

No sense hating myself, its life. Im just happy its nothing on the paint is all.

Its near the tire, and its a bit of a gouge, so Im sure it'll need sanded, filled, and painted. I can deal with that. Any idea how much this kind of stuff usually costs?

Probably about $200. Maybe a little less given the area affected is so small. They should be able to match and blend rather than painting the whole wheel.

Yes the wheel can be fixed DO NOT buy a new one. I curbed one in my G37 payed 600 for a new one. Then later my ex curbed another one, the dealer fixed it for cheap, lesson learned you don't need a new wheel and you wont be able to tell. You can't beat yourself up about it. Forget about it. Find out from your dealer what day the wheel repair guy is there....

i'm probably going to sell mine after i get my rims. i don't even know how much they should be going for.

Stopped at a place to see if they could fix it, and they gave me the run around about how it was supposedly actually powder coated, and that they couldnt replicate the finish...Im going to call the dealerships wheel guy and see what he says.

I found a site that can replace stock wheels...Not sure how good they are, but a little research may help.

I had my M3 in for service and they curbed one of my wheels.

I told them I would give them a chance to repair instead of replace it. They had it fixed in 2 days and it looked like new.

They were happy since it only cost them about $100 to repair it instead of $1100 for a new wheel. I was happy because it looked great.
