Front tires wear faster.?
Hi friends, good morning,i noticed my front tires wears faster than the rear,my mileage is 8200Km now, just normal highway & city driving.....what about you guys.?Can share your views.?thanks.
|
Usually the back tires wear faster since it's rwd . Could be out of alignment or improper tire pressure.
|
Yea, I think the rears wear about twice as fast as the fronts.
|
The simple fact that the front tires turn left to right while parking and such make them prone to wear faster, thats why under normal circumstances your supposed to rotate your tires. People who have staggard wheels obvioulsy cant rotate, so unless your doing burnouts? the front tires are supposed to wear sooner.

It's all how you drive. If you attack corners a lot the fronts will wear faster, if you like smoky burnouts your rears will wear faster. I do a lot of auto-cross so my fronts wear out twice as fast.
|
More weight is over the front tires causing them to wear faster, if your not smokin your rears.

my car is at 19k km and the fronts are fresh while the backs are worn. this has been the norm for all my cars. as the guys have said, its probably an abnormal issue, most cars wear their driven tires faster than the non-..

Thanks, friends, maybe i did too much braking.

Slow down on the onramps. :D

Interesting. I've done autox, track days, and lots of street driving. Never a burn out, and my fronts last twice as long as the rears.
|
It's all about the load being applied to the rear tires. The engine applies all the force to the rear tires when going in a straight line. The force is then transferred through the tire to the road. More force = more tire wear. I have had a number of rwd cars and the all have worn faster in the rear. My front wheel drive cars have worn more in the front. Unless you are turning under serious load on a regular basis (track, hard mountain driving, etc) I would have your alignment checked.

My track tires wear pretty evenly as I keep the car fairly balanced but for auto-x I'm driving the car very aggressively with an aggressive alignment and it just beats the heck out of the fronts. |
