Open or Closed end lug nuts

Hey guys, Does it make a difference what type of lug nuts we use on our cars?

I know they come with closed end lug nuts, but for aftermarket wheels, does it matter if we use open ended lug nuts?

These are the ones i am going to buy, http://www.amazon.com/x1-25-Black-Bu...0814071&sr=1-1

* Black Finish - Set of 20
* 12x1.25 Right Hand Thread Pitch
* 60° Conical Seat
* .83 in. total Length
* 17mm Acorn Head

would the fact that these are only .83 inches in length be a problem as well? this is about .25 inches of less threading than most lug nuts people are using on our cars.

please help, thanks.

I've used both on my wheels and people have said that there will be rust issues with open ended but in the 6+ months that I have had mine I haven't noticed anything on my own wheels or the wheels of friends.

It really comes down to what you think looks better since the weight difference between the two is a non-factor.

EDIT: Regarding the ones you posted, I think those are too short and you run the risk of more easily damaging your wheels unless you can find
an adapter long enough to clear the lug openings on your aftermarket wheels. I would recommend these instead: http://mynismo.com/products/?id=5360

DUDE! i just read up on those lug nuts you sent, and they are 17mm HEX, which is exactly the size i need, i just thought they didn't make them for nissan cars. I am ordering these locks, Black Tops and have been struggling to find a lug nut that would fit. They need 17mm or 19mm, but 17 would be better. I am going to buy these tomorrow! You are the man! Glad I could help!!

Call Performance and ask for Melvin, see if he can order you a 17mm adapter that should come with the lugs as well. The lugs are included with the Nismo LMGT4 wheels so they are good quality.

Here is a pic of the lugs before I sold them with the adapter included, as you can tell they are a darker black in person:

I sold them last Thanksgiving, thus the turkey pic LOL
