Very very slight offset question..

Hi guys,

I finally made my decision on the wheels I'm going to get for my Z.. I don't want to give out much details on brand/design just yet.. I only need very little help with one offset question..

I'm going with:
19x9.5" Front.
19x10.5" +12 Rear.

Also, I will be dropping the car with Eibach Springs.

My question is on the front wheels' offset. I was planning to go with +22. Would I run into any sort of fitment or brake clearance issues..??

Should I go with +12 offset for the fronts instead..??

Thanks for your help!

Springs only is not going to create enough negative camber....stay with the +22 fronts I would say. +17 rubs already on a .8" spring only drop.

Unless you change out front the suspension for camber adjustable arms...+12 is going to rub I am pretty sure. I am going off of a 245/40 front. You can "make" it fit with a 235/40 or a 225/45 19...but then you are probably going to have some serious "pushing" issues. Granted you can make it fit, (flaring the fenders, moving the fender clips, stretching tires, etc...) but if you are going to just install and drive...then I would say +22.

Brake clearance question cant be answered with the information you provided. It all depends on the spoke design and the clearances it was designed for. Ask the vendor or the wheel company for the answer. Cause if you still really want "that" particular rim and it needs a spacer to clear the brakes, then you are going to have to calculate the offset to accommodate the needed spacer width to the total offset it will give you combined. Keep in mind though that anything more than +5mm in a spacer will probably need longer wheel studs as well, unless you use the KICS/Ichiba version with built in stud extenders.

^ indeed, Brake clearance is a separate variable from offset.

It depends on the face of the wheel since (as other members have stated) the brake clearance depends on face not offset. The only thing offset will affect as far as clearance is strut clearance and fender clearance. With that being said, a +22 should clear fine.

If you don't know what the numbers are for the face you're using, you might want to post up what wheels you're going with and we might be able to help you if it's something common. For instance, TE37 or Type-F with 19x9.5 +22 is guaranteed fitment for the Z34 Akebono.

Take for instance a TE37 with 19x9.5 fronts. A +12 offset and a +22 offset wheel will have the same brake clearance, but the wheel barrel will be offset from the hub. A +12 offset wheel will be 10mm closer to the fender (or past it) than a +22 offset wheel. Tire sizing also plays a major factor in whether your wheels will fit.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more detailed questions.

Thanks for the input so far..!

I'm planning to swap the sport Rays wheels with the new ones using the stock sport tires for now. So, I'll stick with the stock size sport tires until they need replacement and then I'll get wider Hankook Ventus V12.

I'm thinking later down the road I'll go with either 295's or 305's for the rear and 255's for the front.
