what info do I need to program the TPMS?
I got new wheels/tires with new TPMS. I do not have them married to the car yet. one shop mentioned I may need some sort of serial # off the TPMS units to complete the programming of them, but I don't have that since the tires are already on the wheels! is this true? if not, is it just a matter of stopping by the dealer and letting them set it up with their scan tool?

Just show up and they do it in 5 minutes and charge you $50+
OR do a search on how to do it yourself for free. |
well, like I mentioned, I am not "resetting" my original TPMS that my car already knows about. these are new sensors, that my car has never seen before.

I believe if you drive it for a while the car ecu will learn the new tpms sensors, and if not a local shop can just clear it if you don't want to purchase a reset tool, and lastly the dealer can marry them.

been driving it for a while and the light is still on, so I guess the car did not learn them. ok, will see what the dealer says.

reset/program = the same thing. You need to program the sensors for your ECU. And you can't have more than one set in the computer.
Also if you have a summer/winter set, you will have to do this every time you put on the wheels on your car. |
And you don't need the serial numbers, just a reset tool
