Yeah, I had mine mounted at the shop a friend works at. He handled the mount & balance so I knew it'd get done right. I think I paid $18.50 a wheel.

My fronts still have probably 60-70% tread after 10k miles though

Invos will wear even quicker. Check out the Vredestein Sessantas... :)

These Hankooks seem to be a great bang for the buck though.

flashburn 05-27-2010 04:06 PM

Got my spacers today from Stillen, and my V12's arrived at my local tire shop today as well. I'll be going next weekend to get them all installed. Can't wait!

Nikon, thanks. Good to hear traction is ok, but not really interested in the traction capabilities but more if you get the frozen tread blocks that, when you first drive it, the tires scrape during hard turns (vibration in the wheel and a nice scrapping noise from the tire). Only does it during first few turns, at a lower speed, when the tire is cold (in below ~40 degree weather).

I haven't noticed what you described but I have long hill I drive up before any real turning…..perhaps the tires warm up enough?

IMWEZL 05-28-2010 07:56 AM

I probably should have bought these tires before arriving in Korea. They are almost $600 a piece out here for the 19" versions.

More than likely I go with these and just have them shipped. Doesn't look like I'll be auto-x anytime in the next two years anyway. I did like the stockers for auto-x since they were very predictable.

Scribe 06-03-2010 10:16 AM

I've had these on my car for about 5K miles and like them for my Z, which is my daily driver. I chose these because of their wet weather performance (stock was a bit scary on the Gulf Coast during the massive downpours that we get). The tread-wear rating is about twice what the stockers were, so we'll see how much longer they last compared to the 16K I got off the original tires.

cossie1600 06-04-2010 12:15 AM

You are not going to like them for autox, they don't grip that great and don't have much feedback due to the soft sidewall. I think they are good street tires due to the low noise and relatively good ride, but I wouldn't go nuts over them.

Sorry for the threadjack 'Tin. Some good info.

Sorry for the threadjack 'Tin. Some good info.

I don't use nearly enough tires to ever establish a relationship with them. I really wanted to use them since they are a site supporter, but they were simply too much in this case.

I am really loving these tires. They are so much quieter and pleasant on daily basis. The lack of tramlining is great too. I was skeptical because of their price, but I will be a repeat buyer of these tires.

j.arnaldo 06-08-2010 09:50 AM

According to a recent issue of CR magazine, Hankooks, Falkens & Michelins are among the best tires on the market. I got my baby a pair of Falkens for the rear in late '09. So far, so good! But, then again, I don't put too much mileage on her, annually ('bout 4,000 miles, on average).

I'm going to have to keep these in mind for the future once I burn out these stockers. Thanks for the reviews!

Pushing_Tin 06-09-2010 01:48 PM

Got an e-mail today from Hankook telling me that they are processing my rebate within 15 days!

flashburn 06-09-2010 01:59 PM

I still need to send mine in. Damn I'm lazy!

jpit 06-09-2010 02:40 PM

Tire Rack gives a warning indicating that the Hankooks have a higher load rating than the OEM tire and might ride a little harsher. Has anyone noticed this? Thanks.

Uh did you read any of the posts in this thread??

flashburn 06-09-2010 03:23 PM

Yeah, seriously. They ride way better than stock. I feel like I can feel less of the tires and more of the road, if that makes any sense. It's definitely "less harsh" compared to stock.

cossie1600 06-09-2010 10:20 PM

I dont have it on the Z, but I can tell you they ride just as well on my Prius compare to the stock low resistance tires. It's a good street tire, not sure if I love them on the track/autox

jpit 06-10-2010 09:29 PM

Pushing Tin states: Uh did you read any of the posts in this thread??

I really get sick of answers like this. I read all the posts in this thread and only a couple talk about the ride of the Hankooks at all. The fact that Tire Rack gives this warning before you order the tires is something to look at before spending $800. If you have nothing constructive to say Tin keep it to yourself.

I started this thread to help other people out, how much more helpful and constructive can I be? And I get sick of people popping to the end of a thread and asking a question that has already been answered.

m4a1mustang 06-10-2010 10:51 PM

OG fight.

Pushing_Tin 06-10-2010 11:36 PM

Okay the thread got a little off topic but here are the highlights. Let's not turn this into another flamefest.

From what I heard, its a different story on the track, these tend to overheat and turn into smoke a few laps in. That's nothing to be ashamed of...its impossible to make an inexpensive tire that is great on the street, lasts a long time and then somehow also performs at the track.

Like others have said, these things are fantastic in the wet!

Knives 06-11-2010 01:11 AM

I actually find that they ride smoother than the OEM tires. Def feel a little more grip when cornering. Noise is down noticeably as well.

Tread is looking good after about 2800 miles, holding up better than the stockers.

vipor 06-11-2010 04:24 PM

I just wish some people in here had tracked them :\

With summer here (already over 100ºF some days) and a few HPDEs planned I don't want to be disappointed. At 15,750 my stock tires (Yoko Advan Sport) are worthless in the rain and I need to replace them.

I'm thinking I might just replace the rears and wait a little while longer for the fronts since I'm probably still at 50% there.

m4a1mustang 06-16-2010 09:03 AM

What pressures are you guys running? I am at stock 35 all around but feel that maybe I could bump it up a little more with these.

vipor 06-16-2010 09:22 AM

Just ordered mine, they should arrive tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to get them on this weekend.

F: 275/30ZR19
R: 305/30ZR19

:excited:

370zproject 07-13-2010 11:53 PM

bump to read later

Windex_ 07-14-2010 03:06 AM

I gotta say that these are hands down my favorite street tires and they will go on any car I get in my future... best bang for your buck Michelin PS2 performance for less than half the cost.

vipor 07-14-2010 08:17 AM

I've had a pretty good experience with my V12's so far. They have real good initial bite but do start making noise earlier than my old Advans, so they might break earlier. The road noise isn't as bad as you'd think based off of their rating; it's definitely better than my bald stockers lol.

I'll follow up once I have some real rain time and track time.

m4a1mustang 07-14-2010 08:20 AM

They are definitely a lot quieter than the OEM Bridgestones.

They are grippier too, especially in straight line acceleration. It's much harder to spin the tires with these.

JohnnyBgood 07-14-2010 09:03 AM

Anyone with the sport pkg upsize from the stock rubber size?

FuszNissan 07-14-2010 09:14 AM

They are a great tire for the money.

Windex_ 07-14-2010 02:29 PM

On my is350 I hooked a 1.7 60ft with these tires

i've tracked them... i'm not a pro driver or anything so take my opinion with a grain of salt :). after a few sessions at willow springs (big track) the v12's seem to get greasy. also the tires started to melt/chunk a little. my friend with a e92 m3 with v12's had the same issue after a few sessions. i switched to nt05's on the stock rims and had no issues, but this was at buttonwillow 13.

i think someone else recommended a different wheel/tire setup for hpde/track events, i would have to agree. the v12's are great on the street though, i've had no issues with them at all.

cossie1600 07-15-2010 04:14 AM

I second teejnut, they were terrible at the track as they have really soft sidewalls and they get greasy quite easily

Windex_ 07-15-2010 04:39 AM

Ive never used them at an autocross track. But, Ive spent a few hours at a time in the canyons in malibu with them multiple times and never had problems.

cossie1600 07-15-2010 05:16 AM

Street driving is entirely different, you don't generate the heat like you can at full load

I hit 130 on spraying on the straight in one canyon and average 50-80mph for 4-25 miles. headers glow, brakes glow trust me I put the car through hell.
:ughdance: *flame suit on*

cossie1600 07-15-2010 08:08 AM

Nice, but no side load.

^ This

The track environment is much harsher than any street driving experience could ever replicate.

I think the *ONLY* complaint about the V12s is it's performance at temperature. Once they get hot they get really slick, unlike the true track-oriented tires with compounds designed to grip like hell at temp.

They are still a badass street tire that will stand up to very aggressive street driving, though.
