Uneven Tire Wear
My Bridgestone Potenzas are wearing more on the outside than the inside. I do not drive or corner aggresively.
The Nissan dealer says this is normal for 370Z's and that they are designed that way. Any input would be appreciated. Sonny |
How many miles have you driven? Are all four tires showing the same wear? How much more are the outside worn than the inside? Pics would help. If anything the inside should wear more than the outside and the tires should last about 20k miles.

Yeah, the "normal" pattern is the inside wearing out first.

My 370Z showed excessive outer edge wear after 3,000 miles. The dealer found the alignment to be out of spec and did a realignment. The measurement was 8 inside and 6 outside on all 4.
After an additional 6,000 miles the measurements are more like 7 inside and 4 outside. The dealer claims all is in spec and that the car is designed for the outside to wear to this extent even without fast cornering which I do not do. If anything, I have been told by tire dealers that with the negative camber the inside should be wearing first. Thanks for your interest. Sonny All 4 tires are showing the same wear pattern. I feel something is being covered up. What action would you take if this were your vehicle? |

Its is possible that the alignment is - or + too much or too little for this tire. Are they the RE-11's?

stop going sideways so much haha.

Uneven tire wear is also a sign of improper tire pressure. If a tire wears in the center you have too much pressure. If a tire wears on the out sides the pressure is too low. . I work for michelin in the high performance tire manufacturing plant.

My 2009 touring with sport package 23k miles bridgestone re050a are wearing/worn out on the inside on the fronts. Noticed a couple of you said that's normal. I'm about to put on 4 Michelin pilot sport 4s . Should I get an alignment done?

Yeah, get an alignment done. Just to be on the safe side.
