Nissan 370z Sport-Package Wheel Inspiration

I was pointed towards a link on the Edmund’s Straightline Blog the other day that gives us a view into one of the 370z designer’s mind. Randy Rodriguez penned the original 370z sketch and it turns out that he grabbed some inspiration from a few exotic Italian motorcycles.

While the 370z was in it’s early design phase Randy was piecing together a MV Agusta F4-750 and it is easy to see how one beautiful two-wheeled machine was able to lend a few design cues to a four-wheeled one. There were also influences from a Ducati 749/999 upper triple clamp that was morphed into the final design of the sport-package wheel. His MV Agusta motorcycle now sits behind his desk at Nissan Design America in San Diego when he isn’t out putting it through it’s paces.

Many of you know that we here at Z Car Garage ride motorcycles or have close ties to them and it is always nice to see our two passions come together in a car that we get to enjoy, the 370z. In a side note, I’ve had the chance to own a few Ducatis and still own a 2006 749s, small world…

There are a couple more photos after the ‘read more’ including one of the Ducati 749s that I own. Enjoy and thanks to Edmunds Insideline for the Nissan info and a few of the photos.

I have sports package rims on my car and I love it. This is the ONLY car that I have purchased, my friends approved the stock rims! Usually they suggest me to change the rims since OEMs are not usually good looking. But these 370Z sports packge rims are beautifully designed and not a single friend of mine suggested that I change them. Again, big thanks goes out to Mr. Randy Rodriguez for his amazing vision and drawing skills.

:iagree:

I don't think it hurts either, that besides being great looking, they actually put out a wide enough rim and tire to meet the enthusiasts standards ........... and the fact they're Rays just adds to the package. Win!

Same here - this is the first car I've bought where I'm not looking to replce the rims it came with!
Good job!

i agree the rays are great. had pressed to find a better oem wheel on any car.
just be careful they are fragile at 975.00 ea.

I also like the Rays, In order to make the package look better I ordered 20mm spacers, I had already ordered the Eibach springs and Stillen anti-roll bars. OMG with the price of replacement tires that is about $1250 per rim and tire?

Yeah, I get the same things from friends/family. Everyone loves the wheels, me included. I really have zero interest buying new wheels just because how much I love these and feel they flow so well with the cars design.

Do you like chicken? I like chicken too.

How do you like your aftermarket wheels?

All joking aside, the stock rims are great... but I'm talking about the masculine 18's not the talon claw 19s.
