255/35/20 vs 255/40/20?

Ok guys im kinda new here still im not sure wether i can post this here but let me tell you. I need 2 new front tires for my 370z im running 255/40/20 in front the Bridgestone Potenza RE070R RFT These tires are nice( expensive) but they are runflat and my ride is kinda rough. im thinking about getting Nitto NT-05 they are kinda new. but ive been hearing good things about them. so you guys think 255/35/20 non runflat will be a better ride or nay?
So if anyone can help Thanks!!!

i may be wrong, but run-flats are inherently rough-riding. switching to a non-run-flat tire will definitely help you out IMO. not sure what you're getting at with the size difference though, that won't do squat.

but your choice of wheel...the nt-05? for better ride quality? you're still going to get a lot of feedback out of the tire for sure, so it'll still be bumpy and noisy, just not AS much as your RE070Rs.

i think.

The Nitto NT-05 is a streetable track tire. It has a very stiff sidewall and will ride just as harsh as your RE070R RFT tires built for the GT-R.

Hmm well 255/35/20 sidewall is smaller which from what i think i know would make it rather ruff but...its not runflat. From reading about these tires ive been hearing they are nice sticky and grippy. supposedly good on track?? and they dont have hi road noise or so they say. So what do you think? Hmm i see so what tires would you consider for my front? any good brands? 255/35/20 or would 245/40/20 be smarter choice and smoother ride. but then again the front wheels is 20X9.5 i would be stretching wouldnt I?

Stock sized Nitto NT-05 is what I'm running. I really like them so far, I cant wait to really test them out at the track.

Yes, ideally you want between 255/35/20 and 275/30/20 for the 9.5 rim.

What are your plans for driving? Do you do any track or auto-x? What is more important to you, compliant quiet ride or performance?

255/40=R20 if im not mistaken is the R35 spec tyres. they're bound to be hard if they runflat, not to mention pricey!

So how do they ride is it stiff? are they sticky and grippy? or do you think they are better than the stock bridgestone runflats that came stock? unless you had the 18" yokohamas? hmm i need tires really bad the white tread is coming out already lol. so im looking to buy today. Please let me know.

ChrisSlicks: As far as ride i like both nice compliant ride and performance, i know runflats are always very stiff and ride hard so im thinking that these non funflats should help just a bit. but as for right now i dont hate the ride im ok with it. But it wouldnt hurt to have a little more comfort.:ugh2: and as for auto x im not there yet but i do wanna try some day as well as some drags i was never really into any of this but kinda seems like FUN!

The stock Bridgestones were not runflats.

The NT-05 and the Bridgestone RE-11's are some of the stickiest street tires out there. They are not the quietest or the most comfortable but they do over very high levels of performance especially in warmer dry weather. In the tire world comfort and grip live at opposite ends of the spectrum, you need to decide where your requirements fall.

If you wanted compliance going to the 20" rims may have been a mistake. I'm sure they look pimpin but you are loosing sidewall height which is going to make the ride harsher.

Oh wow i thought they were runflats lol that is why im a noob! i know the ones i have on right now are runflats for sure lol. so the nt-05 are great tires then i see. well i guess i should order today? put them on tomorrow and see how they feel, although my rears still have alot of meat left ill just wear those out and then get rear nt-05 to match everything. Yeah the 20"s are big but i love the GTR wheel style wish they were 19"s, but what can i do? sell them and get Volks!
