Tires that will hold 800whp?

What tires are my best bet for not spinning with this kind of power. Should I get street tires and run low boost (500whp) then put on some sticky drag radials and run 800whp when im going to half mile events or can i daily on drag radials.

This McLaren got into the 8's with r888r's.

What rim size should I be running? My streets will be 19 inch idk what size would be good for drag radials

That because they have great traction control and boost by gear from the factory.

I'd run the r888r's on the street, as a matter of fact, I am. ;) As for a drag tire set up, someone else will have to help you. That's something I just don't know anything about. I know there are various threads on the site discussing it if you do a search.

Yes, but there is another article stating that the r888r's was the only street tire that got them into the 8's.

Wondering how well these will hold up in 305/30/19 pushing 800whp......

Spooler would probably have a better idea how well they would hold up with that knid of power.

You said you have these tires? I see you have 680whp. How bad is the wheelspin?

Spooler 10-05-2020 09:18 PM

You need to have 325/30/19's on a 11.5 in. rim to even have a chance of them hooking. I see you are in Ontario. Temps will lesson your traction, the farther below 80 deg F. the worse it will get. I would assume you park your car for the winter. If so, you can run R888r's. Expect to get about 7k miles out of them max. If you want to hook on the 1/2 mile you will be switching to MT Street R's on a 17x10.5 wheel.

Spooler 10-05-2020 09:23 PM

You are going to need to upgrade the diff also. The factory VLSD will kill you.

Just curious, have you ever had a turbo car with 800hp?

I run a 315 and wheelspin is pretty nonexistent but my car is supercharged so it doesn't have the low end torque of a turbo car and I'm in Southern California and my tires come up to temp real quick.

It’ll be a while before your build is done, so this is hypothetical at this point.

Too many factors to consider. Skills, experience, asphalt temp, rubber temp, shocks and springs, alignment, LSD, gear ratio, management/tuning of the torque....

800 whp on this car will spin any tire you put on it to be honest. It’s up to the driver to tame it.

All I have to say is it is humbling............

The last 1/2 mile event I did was the hardest thing I have ever tried to do in a car.

Go slow on learning the car. I am use to a turbo car. You may scare the hell out of yourself. LMAO...

Im really looking for 40 and 60 roll grip. Not hard launches. Are the R888R's good for this on a 305/30/19 on a 10.5 in. rim? Im set on these rims and thats their widest size. Is there another tire that will do better that I can daily? Not sure what I should do honestly.

With 800hp you need the 325/30/19's on a 11.5in wheel. Otherwise and MT Street R radial 305/45/17 on Welds wheels 17x10.5. 305's are not enough.

Okay I understand. Could I daily on the MT Street R radial 305/45/17? If I can get away with dailying on these it would save me some money to buy the 325 wide tires. Also is there a reason you specifically mentions Welds wheels? Or can I run any 17 inch rim?

Yes, you can reduce your boost and lower your HP at the wheel. Around 700hp may work.

Sorry forgive me now im confused lmao. You told me two wheel setups a 325/30/19 on a 11.5 in. rim and a 305/45/17 on a 10.5 in. rim. When and why should I use the 325/30/19 over the 305/45/17 and vice versa?

If you want 700whp to 750hp, the 325's will work. If you want to hook 750hp and up you will want the MT Street R radials. 305/45/17. You can run the 305/30/19's but your whp will need to be lower for traction.

I understand now thank you. Guess ill have 2 maps medium boost and high boost and run the 305 30 19 on the medium boost 600whp ish and then slap on the 305/45/17 and go high boost. Thanks again

Hey man sorry to bother u again but what do u think about running the ET Street® S/S on a 325/30/19 on a 11 in. wide rim? You think that would hook?

I have never ran them so I have no idea. It will be trial and error on your part.

Lower boost in the first 2-3 gears
