Riding on road channels
 

I am new to Zs and have noticed the car likes to ride in the channels on the road. It feels like I need to fight the wheel sometimes to stay straight. I bought the car used, it has original tires with 14k miles. Is this normal or do I need need tires to cure this? Thanks.

Its called tramlining and the Z is known for that. Wider tires will tend to have this effect.
Make sure your tires do not need changing (low tread) and that they are the same, or at least have the same tread pattern.

When I bought my Z, the dealer had put on some cheap rear tires (forgot the brand) and I had my OEM 9x18 wheels. The difference in the tread pattern caused my car to 'wobble'. It felt like you were driving in hurricane wind conditions. I got a new set of tires, and it drove fine with minimal tram lining. Also, get your alignment done!

All cars do that to some extent. Wide tires make it worse. But, you could have tire and/or alignment problems - see bunk's post above. Find a reliable alignment shop and get them to check your setup.

... And if you have not-stock tires and they are directional, make sure they're on the correct side of the vehicle

..i bought my 2018 nismo and drove it from Atlanta to Pittsburgh and there was a lot of construction going on on the road and boy was i scared to hell when the car started to jerk the wheel as soon as the road got a little rough. If there is a patch of new asphalt and my front tire touches it, i wobble like a drunk one...Also the road gets uneven and its pulling me left to right.Makes the drive pretty annoying and i can't really drive the car like i would like to, because i just don't trust it. I heard the dunlop runflats are the main factor and then the alignment might be off like you guys mentioned so i'll be taking the car to the dealer. I had a base 2013 and don't remember the car would behave like this....

Normal NY/NJ road feature.

I've had tramlining on my Z across different tires and alignments.

It is the worst on roads that have 2 different 'layers' of tar. One side of the road is abruptly higher than the other side. For a second, it feels like I am driving 2 different cars.

I've learned to grab the steering wheel tighter to correct this.

...i swapped the stock Dunlop runflats for Firehawks and the problem was gone...or lets say, it got better by 90%. Now i can drive my car like i want to without the fear of death lol......#Dunlop GT600 suck c....
