Trusted Tire Installer in Pittsburgh

Anyone know a shop in Pittsburgh who has the equipment and the willingness to mount a 285/35-19 onto the stock Rays sport rims?

I struck out at my local dealer and the place they suggested. The place they suggested wouldn’t even mount a tire less than 40 series.

Thanks in advance!

My local Firestone dealer mounted the tires on my Nismo. Not PA, but it's apparently not corporate policy to deny service.

Good luck.

Found a buddy of a buddy that is a master mechanic at a Cadillac dealer with access to the right equipment.

Kind of disappointment with my Nissan dealer but I get it. It’s a pain to get these low profile tires on.

Yeah... a lot of my mother's side is from the area... Slippery Rock to be specific. The accent always makes me laugh.

Ok, I'm farther south. In Brownsville. I know of a couple places along RT51, near Belle Vernon. There is a tire place near the airport. Can't think of the name of it. The guy I go to for all my tires is Phil's Tire in Fayette City. It's a little place with great prices.

A little further than I'd like, my problem I have now is that I need to get 4 285/35 tires and 4 sport wheels with tires in my Subaru Legacy. Wish me luck! I might be driving with a tire on my lap. I think I have someone in Peters Twp.

Well in fairness, only far because I'll probably have to make two trips. :driving:

You need someone with a truck.

Have 2 boys in Colorado, and one in NM. So we are out west a good bit. :driving:

Last night I was able to get 4 new tires and 4 wheels and tires into my wife’s F Pace! A lot of rubber in the back of that Jag. This was just a test fit. I’m taking them to the installer tonight. I’ll take a pic for everyone tonight to enjoy.

Yes I do need a truck. Funny as I get older I keep finding more and more uses for a pickup. Looking at a Tacoma sometime in the near future.

Two rows of 3 275-285 wide tires with the stock 245 right behind the front seats! :rofl2:

Was able to get the tires mounted last night, no problem at all. Very cool!

FPenvy 02-13-2019 09:27 AM

they really wouldnt put a 285 on the stock wheel?

my place has put 265/305 set on my stock rays for like 6 years now.

i gotta find a new place for 285/325 on the GTR this year though. my place's machine has put a nick here and there on my Z wheels but those are hard to tell. the gloss black GTR wheels i dont want them taking any damage.

Funny enough the place where I got it done was the Cadillac dealer of the same group of dealers where I usually take my Nissan. I stood there while he did it. If we weren’t chatting it up so much he would of been done in 30 minutes.

Not sure what happened or why the Nissan dealer didn’t do it. But I’m going to let them know the Cadillac guys treated me better. Should stick in their craw a bit.

Curious, because now I’m obsessed with tire sizes, did you do a 265/35 on the front and 305/30 on the back?

which caddy dealer?

and yes 265/35/19 F and 305/30/19 R using RE-11's. sadly they're discontinued. best tire in my opinion.

think i had 6 sets on the Z. had OEM for like 8k miles they were gone, then michelin super sports that lasted 10k miles and i rolled the sidewalls so those were gone, then RE-11 rest of the way. still on the car. i have 3 sets of fronts at 75% i keep hidden. sadly on my last set of rears. these were new last year and only 3k miles on them hopefully they last this year.

oh damn yea thats right by my buddies house over there by valley brook.

mostly street, some dragon miles, highway (zdayz is 1300 miles round trip), drag strip runs, etc.

everything but actual track driving. and trust me my rears go every year at around 10k-13k because i like the loud pedal.

fronts always had about 70-80% left so i tossed them in the shed as spares but bought 4 new each year. OCD thing. it hurt to only put rears on last spring.

You should come out and do some autocross at Pitt Race. The first event is 4/20. Stcsolo.com to see the schedule. 2019 was just posted.
