Tire time

I have about 27k on the original tires. As you can imagine, there's not a lot left on the rears.

It's a 2014 base model with 18s....looking for something quieter than the stock tires, which are very loud, especially on rough pavement. I live in AZ so summer tires are fine, but I know the busier tread all seasons are definitely quieter.

List your experiences with different tires.

Just bought a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions for about $900.

19 inch rims, 245 in front 275 in rear.

Definitely quieter and smoother than the OEM tires.

Seems to be turning great, but I haven't brought it out to the mountains yet.

A lot of reviews recommend these tires as a great alternative to more expensive tires.

Before I started running Michelin PS4, I had a set of Bridgestone S-04 and, for the money, they did a great job. They were quiet, did well in the rain, and they handled the Tail of the Dragon very well. The tread wear was good too, even with several trips to ZDayZ and a lot of aggressive driving on twisty roads. This was on 19" wheels. :twocents:

I'm running 20's but I just picked up Hankook Ventus V12 evo 2 for the rear. So far I am very pleased.

Before I got all crazy with performance tires I ran a set of s04 as well and loved them for what they are.

You got 27K off the original tires? WOW!

I got around 12 to 13K and I thought I was doing real well. I'm trying to figure out how you got so many miles off a set of tires on a Z.

Did you do something to change the rear camber?

I’ve run PS4S for 6000 miles. Mostly touring but some “aggressive” driving. Good handling and quiet running. But, I drive a Roadster so the background noise is higher than the coupe.

Currently running a set of Cooper Zeon RS3's in the stock Nismo Sizes. I have about 14k on them, and I'll need rears here in a couple of months. These are all season tires. Since we don't really have to deal with snow, but do get a hell of a lot of rain down here in SE Texas.
They are about 10% quieter than the stock tires, based on my phone app decibel meter, but still loud at about 65 db. Where they shine is in wet traction. Some of our hiways are notorious for standing water, and I had almost lost it a few times with other vehicles, and once with the well-worn stock tires. I have never even come close with the Cooper's.
15k treadwear on the rears, and 30k on the fronts? I'll take it!
