P265 Front and P305 Rear

After putting on 16500 mi on the Nismo with the OEM Potenza's I noticed the deteriorating tread on the rear 385/40/19 tires. I'm ready for new shoes and am wondering what will be the maximum width increase for both front and rear.

Up front going from a 245 to a 265 shouldn't be a problem, there is a lot of fenderwell up there. My concern is could the rear fenders handle a jump to 305's from a 285? I'm hungry for a more aggressive stance a 305 will give, and the look of the car from behind.

I know the 10" front wheels and the 10.5 inch rear Rays can fit them fine, I'm just wondering if It will be poking out on the sides?

As a rule of thumb when you go up one tire size width it increases the footprint by a half inch. Measuring seems to show it should work, anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Bottom line what's the widest tire we can put on the Rays...and brand...I will ask Discount Tire Direct this Summer and compare..

I ran 305s on the back of my Z and never had a problem with them.... and they looked great with no spacers...

On Nismo wheels the widest you can run is 285/35/19 front and 325/30/19 rear. 265 and 305's will fit not problem.

Nope; you have 19x9+47F & 19x10+30R
NISMO is 9.5+40 & 10.5+23

In no way, I will be rude as I think you are a young man who uses the web for answers and has the time for it. I googled the question asked in this thread and it brought me here. Did not search inside this forum as I was multitasking so I asked those who may have already experienced in person a change in size/ width on their forged Rays. Back when I was young and went to school with Jesus and Moses word of mouth ruled as there was no web and you trusted the answers you got. I have been misinformed both by Google and places that sell tires online as most customer service folks work on commission and they try to sell you not what works for you but what gives them a better salary. On that note, sometimes when you have nothing good to say just smile and be done with it and not post it as you may just look like an idiot more so than the OP, carry on now get back to your video games . :driving:

Depending on if you plan to keep at or near oem tire diameter,
As speedometers are more accurate with a 27” tall tire (+ or - .2”) and the tire brand/makers sizing can easily vary a full inch in width & even be off on advertised height.
So depending on the ride height of your suspension & what tread compound you’re aiming for-can play a huge role.
Also if you desire a stretch, square or slightly bulged fitment.

245/40,285/35 or 255/40,295/35 will be right near stock diameter & fit without scrubbing, having negative rake or making your speedometer be off.
Some of these wheel sizes handcuff you to a specific few sizes,,,unless you don’t mind front tires being taller (negative rake)....about 1/2” diameter difference is the most you want to differentiate because of on board computers.....you will get the Christmas Tree effect.

I like the 255/40 and 305/35 set up. Not too crazy, just a bit of extra beef.

jchammond, sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope all heals well.
