Square setup?
 

It's time to start planning my new tire purchase. Stock tires are toast.

First up: Goals...

- I do not drive much...I've had the car almost 2 years and it only has ~12,500 miles on it.

- I live in Phoenix, so performance in the wet isn't a concern.

- I DO track my car, so I want a really high performing, sticky tire...that is, as long as I don't have to replace it every...like...3000 miles or something.

Here's what I'm thinking: I don't make enough power to justify 305s or anything crazy, so I'm thinking 285/35s on all 4 corners...stock Sport wheels with 20mm spacers on all 4 corners, as well.

I'd kind of prefer 275s, but I'm pretty sold on RE-11s and they are only available in 275/30...that'd lower the car another half an inch-ish...which I don't want. 285/35 will keep the height the same, and I know it'll work on the rear, but I'm concerned about that width on the front...especially with the spacers.

What are your thoughts?

Anyone recommend anything other than RE-11s?

There are plenty of threads on this already...

The OEM wheels are staggered on the Z so I would match the tire size to the wheel size as appropriate. If you run a square setup with four rear wheels, then it makes sense to run the same size tire on all four corners.

RE-11s are old. Try RE-71Rs.

Assuming that your not exceeding the suggested rim width range for the tire size whats wrong with running four 275/35-19 or four 285/35-19 with staggered size rims?

I recently switched to a square setup on stock sport rear wheels with 275/35's. The tires arent anything special or grippy. I do not track the car (no track to do so) but I can tell you it is VERY neutral. I need that front Hotchkis bar in the worst way.

Bridgestone RE-71R in a 285/35-19 is the tire you're looking for. At least on tirerack.com, the 285 wide tire is actually cheaper than the 275 wide tire.

Interesting. How do those compare to the infamous RE-11?

Looking like I'm going to forgo the square setup...and the RE-11s. Thinking I'm going to go PSS in 255/35/19 front, 295/35/19 in the rear.

I just went to a square set up with RPF1s 18x10.5 +15 all around. My tires are 275/40/18 and they rub slightly in the front on swift springs. Rolled my fender last night and its better but i'm betting a 35 aspect ratio will solve the issue if not vastly improve it.

I track my car and daily so on track it shouldn't be an issue but local streets leave alot to be desired for smoothness. looking into a 10mm wider fender but really don't want to spend 1k if a lower aspect tire will solve this issue.

You do not need a wide front fender to fit that.

Roll your fenders
If you haven't already, get some SPL FUCA for adjustment of camber and caster
crank the camber to around -3
you should be fine

A 40 profile tire? That seems like an awful lot of sidewall. Seems like a 30 or even 35 profile tire would have been a better fit.
