Mismatching rears and fronts?
16k miles, and I'm beyond due to replace the rears. The fronts still have a good amount of tread left.
On other cars I've mismatched brand/make on tires between fronts and backs...but I feel that would look lame on the 370z....I know this is more of an opinion thing but what do you guys think? Should I bite the bullet and replace all 4 even though the fronts are still good? Or do I replace the backs with OEM until the fronts wear enough to replace all four. OR do I just buy rears and roll with mismatched front/rear tires? |
I don't know what the right answer is here...but I am driving with mismatched tires because of the way I bought the car.
I suggest buying new rears of the brand/type you want to go with, then replace the fronts with the same when they catch up in wear. The front/rear is almost never going to wear the same, so figure out what make/model you want to go with and stick with it for a while =) |
I would just say as long as its just as grippy as your front ones. Don't want something that isn't and get happy rear end business... unless you like that. lol

If your OCD is anywhere close to my level, bite the bullet and purchase a set of matching tires. Or you can always check your local for sale ads on kijiji or even our forum and see if you can find rear tires to match your fronts.

You can get some funky handling with mismatched tires. If you do that, just be aware.

I've ran different tires front and rear many many times, street and race tires, doesn't matter what so ever unless you start putting way sticky tires compared to a crap tire.. if it's just street use it won't matter
