Staggered Rims
I just thought of something randomly. Could I run like 265 R 19 on the front and say 305 r 20 in the back? As long as they both have similar wheel diameters? I just like the look of it on Corvettes and Lambos.

Yes, you can. I'm running a 275/35/19 in front and a 305/30/20 in rear.

Could you send me a pic of the side? I'm really curious if it's visually pleasing for me. It sounds like a good idea on paper. Any advantages?

It'll take a bit as my car's wrapped up for the winter but I'll take a few the next time I start him up. No advantages, just my preference

You can, long as the difference is within 3%.
Using the specs of PSS. 265/35-19, 26.3" 265/40-19, 27.4" 305/30-20, 27.2" The 265/35-19, and the 305/30-20 would be putting you at the edge. The 265/40-19 and the 305/30-20 will work no problem. But you sidewalls front to back will look off. |
I might try and do the 275 posted above. Just trying to see if it was a decent idea or if anyone tried it. Don't think the car was made to stagger it this way lol.

It's funny how when I owned my C5 Corvette which came stock with staggered rims setup, everyone was trying to go to a square setup for some reason which I never understood. Probably so they could rotate their wheels for track use.
Now, that I own the Z, there are people who want to go staggered.....LOL. Personally, I always liked having a larger diameter wheel in the back. It gives the car much more presence and a meaner stance. Good luck. As others have stated, it is important that the ECU does not detect a difference in rotational speeds (per %tolerance). If that happens, it will probably think your car is skidding and trigger TC/ABS. |
Tolerance is front wheel diameter divided by the rear wheel? Or is it compared to the stock rim size?
