Outer tire wear after track day

Hey guys,

Do you guys find that after some hard track days you find your outer tire tread wears a little bit? What do you consider normal?

Currently use Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position's on Sport Packaging rims

Sounds normal. Your alignment specs are not optimized for track duty.

Give it a tad more neg camber

Or more air in your tires if you're properly cambered.

My 14 with Swift springs also has outer tire wear on both the fronts and the rears.

I had an alignment done and below are my specs.

Front R L

Camber -1.55 -1.60
Caster 5.7 5.00
Toe -1/32" 1/16"

Rear

Camber -2.20 -2.50
Toe 1/16" 1/8"

I always had problems with outer tire wear on the front until I got camber arms. With about -1.8* problem solved and handling greatly improved!

That's normal for stock 370Z. These cars need more front camber to make the tires wear evenly when driven in high performance conditions.

I'm at

F
Camber -2.00
Caster +8
Toe 0.00

R

Camber 2-25
Toe 1/16

Love my set up..

Great info! Thanks guys!

one more follow up question that I thought about. It's obvious when you need new tires based on normal tread wear in the center part of the tires, when does the outside get be be a little "iffy"? The tread thickness is a fraction of the depth of the normal tread on the outer part of the tire, even as brand new tires.

Do you have the stock upper control arms?

I have stock sport package suspension if that helps answer your question.

To summarize the nonsense above...
  1. You cannot get the tires to wear evenly with OEM suspension. No matter how much tire pressure you have, (ive tried 50 PSI hot)
  2. The only remedy for chewing the outside of your tires is to get more camber, or turn slower :roflpuke2:.
  3. That's why i bought SPL camber arms.

That's why I asked the question if he had the stock arms. If we know what he has. Better the answers.

:iagree:
I went with the SPC camber arms but SPL and/or SPC will do just fine for you to be able to adjust the camber farther than about -1.5
