Bridgestone RE-11 Long-Term Review
 

I've been on these tires for a total of ~17K miles and 6 track days. I'm definitely inclined to agree with the forum opinion of these tires being the best all-around performer for the Z34. Below are some thoughts:

Sizes: 265/35R18 | 275/35R18

Daily use: These are VERY good tires for daily or even "spirited" back-road driving. It does not take any time for these to go into their "working window" as I've had no grip issues. The wet traction is also outstanding, as I've been able to survive the ridiculous downpours in Houston without any drama. The ride quality is good for the sizes I have, And the road noise isn't that bad.

Track use: The RE-11s give you a ton of confidence and good feedback. The tires, like mentioned before, do not take long to warm up. Once they are up to temperature, they have great lateral stability. The steering response could be better, but that one tire with a 71 in it addresses that issue. At peak temperatures, I didn't really feel a cliff, or drop off in performance. They seemed to hold at a certain level of grip before letting go. When the tires let go, you're already aware of it happening (alot of that may be down to the predictability of the Z chassis).

I hope that provides more information. I've switched to the RE-71R and will have an initial track comparison after the 20th.

In for the RE-71R comparison.

I find it interesting that these worked well for you in the recent rains in Houston. My experience with RE-11s was once they were under about 5/32" tread wear, they hydroplaned like crazy in any amount of standing water; I was afraid to drive over 40 mph in them once water started collecting on the roads.

What's your F / R camber degrees?

My fronts do NOT wear like that @ the track.

I'd check your pressures. Running a pressure close to OEM will get you a better contact patch where the channels are located. I would say even with that amount of wear and moderate rain (excluding standing water of course) I had no trouble doing at least 60mph

-2.0 degress. The wear is because of the amount of toe-in I had set at the front, which was close to stock.

LOL yes, but when I plan on doing more than that this Friday.....it's time to get rid of them.

Tires pressures are checked routinely (at least weekly). I try to keep them at 35 psi for daily driving. The performance was ok in the rain. It was only when water started collecting on the roads that they got scary; standing water on the lane striping made changing lanes pretty gnarly at times. That kind of rain is not a common occurrence here, so I can't make too big of a deal out of the performance. Plus, their grip in the dry is amazing :driving:

stock suspension and specs running typically 32-34 PSI

my fronts last year on a 265/305 RE-11 setup still have at least 70/75% left after 13k miles. rears still had a little bit about wear bar maybe 4.5/32nds

these tires are great. the current set is still going strong as well. sadly car goes into hibernation soon sooooo time to burn the rears off.

With that in mind, what sort of "track" experience are you talking?

Road corse / 1/4 mile / Auto-x ?

1/4 and road plus backroads and many many dragon/hellbender runs that torture tires lol no auto-x. lets just say the straight pipes were not welcomed by the 50 year old men who frequent autox and run the event in their gay little Miata shitboxes

I had a brand new set of PSS's and the in one of the turns the front left tires shoulder rolled on me and the butthole puckered a bit.

RE-11s haven't done any of that yet and I feel I pushed harder this past year than any on parts of the dragon and they held
