Tyres for longevity and grip

Hey fam,

Just wondering what tyres are the best for longevity, price and grip on the 370z. I run the stock bridgestone potenza's re050a. Does anyone know which pattern lasts longer on the potenza's or can anyone recommend an alternative? If there's a thread on this can you direct me to it? ;)
Use for them is basically daily driving.

Thanks!

IMO.the criteria you have given--longevity,price and grip is darn near impossible to
find in one tire.
You basically have to give up something to get what you want.
Of the 3 "wants" you mentioned, price will be the most difficult.
If price was not a factor,I'd suggest Michelin Pilots for a overall tire.
I am fond of Hankook V-12's for a great daily driver tire.

BFG Comps

Continental ExtremeContact DW's are also a very good alternative to the Michelin's, since the PSS's are pretty hard to find in certain sizes right now.

Just realised I might need them in 19x9.5 and 19x11...

Natural choice would be the Bridgestone S04.

get 245/40/19 and 285/35/19 (not the 275/35/19 as they are narrow)

:iagree:

S-04 for the price/performance value :twocents:

Stock RE050s have terrible tread wear if you push their performance at all.

Agreed! Wearing mine out at 14k. Happy they lasted that long to be honest.

kenchan 08-18-2015 02:32 PM

mine was gone by 8k.. :ugh:

my re-11's lasted two years and ~20k miles

JARblue 08-18-2015 03:11 PM

I like to tell people that my wife wore out the stock RE050s in 10K miles of daily driving. But the truth is I was tearing up those tires almost every weekend :icon17: :driving:

So4 gets my vote. They are really nice tires for the $. The only problem is that I should of went 1 size bigger in the back knowing that I was going to be boosted. I think It would of helped with some strait line grip. Now I'm thinking of trying a different set of tires after these wear out (probably just the back 2 since they will wear faster).

:icon18:

yeah on top of that i had -2.5 degree camber in the rear, 3 autox's and countless digs from a stop under my belt. these were the "updated" re-11's with 200 treadwear (not sure if anything else was updated other than the treadwear). i believe they used to be 180.

Just put a set on my car. If I can get 20k out of the rear, I will be happy. I did get 24K out of SO-4's. They had a little bit of tread left (2mm), it's just been to rainy to push them to far. Too Risky.

Will that size fit stock rims?

The S-04s run a bit narrow, so he was suggesting that you go up a size to be closer to the size of the OEM tires. You can run a 305 on the rear sport rims easy :driving:

Sweeeeet! Thanks for this :bowrofl: How about the fronts?

JARblue 08-19-2015 08:38 AM

I've run 265 up front. I think you can run a 275. At stock height.

Note that I when I go up in width a few sizes, I usually go down in profile to keep the diameter as close to OEM tires as possible (this keeps the speedo more accurate). I like to run 255-265/35/19 up front and 285-305/30/19 in the rear.

yes it will.

The 245/40/19 is normal width but for some reason bridgestone made their 275/35/19's narrow. probably for them fella flush a toilet type folks, maybe?

for the rear, get the 285/35/19 which are nismo size, but will fit the 10" width Sport wheels just fine.

see the specs tab:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ot+Super+Sport

the PSS's are lighter when comparing same size tires, at least in 19's
