New Tires Question

Hey what's up guys,

I just had a quick question. So I got all of my tires replaced last Friday and got the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The first few days were good but then I noticed my TPMS light went on. I didn't think of anything of it but finally decided to check my tire pressure yesterday and all of them were at 20-25 PSI. Shouldn't the tires be at the right PSI since they're brand new and were just put on less than a week ago? I'm confused. Did the guys who put them on do it wrong? Anyways, I put on new valve caps for all of the tires and hopefully nothing is wrong.

What do you guys think would be the cause of this?

wait.......what the fu....

you trusted the tire shop to inflate them correctly? most don't.

go throw more air in and wait a few days and check again.

I highly highly highly doubt you got 4 tires that have holes in hem unless you drove through a road filled with nails, broken glass, and spike strips lol

I guess you're right, I am too naive. You would just assume since that's what they do ALL day EVERY day lol.. Thanks for your help!

thats the point, they do it ALL DAY so at some point there's gonna be a guy saying fuck it and while in a hurry to run people through the line he dumps 18psi or something that once the tires cool and sit for awhile drops to 25 and sets off the TPMS lol

pump em up and see what happens.

have to agree on not trusting techs, different scenario as to our mechanics where Im deployed but our XTerra came back with each tire at 60psi, careless techs fill them til they look good

Yeah you were right btw. Sorry for the late reply. I filled it back to the normal PSI and the light is now off. Thanks again for your help!

I used to work at a tire shop a couple years ago, no joke, one customer brought his Fiesta in with 137 psi in one of his tires. He was also higher than the moon

Readjust your tire pressures and never go back to that hack shop again. As a tech, this stuff pisses me off. The specs are on the freakin door jam for crying out loud. No excuse. If they ask for a survey or something, tell them about your experience.

Hah... you guys want a good one? This happened to me the day I took delivery of the Z. This bad boy was probably around 100 psi. I drove it hard right off the lot, heated up the tire, and it bubbled like a fuckin football. They said there was something wrong with the tire before I took delivery, so they had put a new one on. My guess is they had it pressured to set the bead and then just didn't let the air out after :shakes head:

I got PSS as well. I have a tire gauge to make sure the PSI is always right. With my new wheels I didn't get new TMPS sensors and didn't want to use the stock ones since they'd be 50/50 reliability with new wheels so my light is always on, but I don't care, the tire gauge is all I need :)

I got mine filled up at the shop that does the work on my Z, besides them I don't trust anyone else (dealers etc...). If you have to have it done by someone that you don't know personally, always double check to make sure the **** is done right.

I need to live by those words! :iagree:
