Gotcha. Sorry that didn't work out as well as it should of. :(

Dang that bites. but hopefully when they are done you will love them. I am sure they will still look real nice on the car.

Tazicon 05-31-2013 09:24 AM

The wife and I are going out to the drags tonight. People should tell me what their cars look like so I know who I am rooting for!

JENZ 05-31-2013 11:40 AM

Mine is white with grey TSW nurbs.

Do you still plan to go? Are you still wanting to meet up before? Let me know.

JENZ 05-31-2013 07:21 PM

Haven't heard back from you yet Super. If you end up going just catch up with me there. I'm rolling from my house at about 7pm.

SS_Firehawk 05-31-2013 07:47 PM

Anyone need an oil cooler back home ? My 72 row AE Performance won't fit my build.

That was a blast next time I need to run the Z!

JENZ 06-01-2013 01:59 AM

Yay! That was my husband in the mini. My best tonight was 14.6 which is only marginally better than the first time I did this but an improvement none the less.

So sorry I didn't get back to you Jenz, I got busy with some extra work and completely forgot to let you know we weren't going. We wanted to go though, and it'd have been cool to see you guys. Next week maybe?

No worries, this oil cooler is a bit expensive, even resale, also a bit overkill for a lot of people. It's twice the size of normal ones. Great for our weather tho :)

Tazicon 06-01-2013 10:28 AM

It looked like you two were having fun. One race I thought your hubby was going to beat you but you hung on. It was fun to watch.

That's ok! The next one is scheduled for June 28th. Looking at the LVMS schedule it appears they are going to be more sparse for the remainder of the year. Not like this month which was almost every week.

Schedule | Tickets & Schedule | Las Vegas Motor Speedway

6/28, 8/30, 9/13, 10/4, 10/18

Husband has pretty maxed out the potential in the stock mini. He is a great driver and grew up around all this. Me on the other hand, I am far from where I need to be. So it is likely we will still be going to the remaining Mayhems this year.

Wish I could just slap a SC on it to make up for my poor driving like this girl in a Saleen doing 12's the last two times we went.

He "almost" beat me on our last race by a hair (my perception was that he did but I just took a peek at the slip and I beat him by a hair actually). I can't launch that well. I especially can't launch with a rev. I need to work on that. The last race we did before leaving I tried launching at a rev and bogged down. That mini really puts its power down well and his excellent driving coupled with my poor driving despite the Z being a more powerful car..... it just really shows that it really is about driver skill... even in a straight line.

Tazicon 06-03-2013 06:13 PM

Well I am thinkng I will try to go out to Cars and Coffee and agian this weekend. Anyone on here going?

JENZ 06-03-2013 08:43 PM

Nope.... we will be in Canada! :) Yay vacation time!

Did you get your nails did before that vacay, Jenz? My wife saw this and sent me a pic - she figured it was you since your plate matches your tagline :)

(P.S - Now you've done it - she wants your car).

Have fun up there! I have never made the trek to Canada but I hear it is beautiful.

Can't wait to go. Three more days!

Infamous 06-05-2013 01:06 PM

Snail is not making me a happy customer. They've had my wheels for a month and they said they won't be finished til Saturday of next week at the latest. Wtf. The powder I chose wasn't in stock, so why the F didn't you order it when I picked out instead of waiting til now to order?

Wtf. What's the point of keeping your rims there if they aren't ready to even do the work. Sorry this isn't working out well. I heard great things from the mini community about them. It's so hard to do business with small locally owned businesses when they pull bs like this.

JENZ 06-06-2013 08:18 PM

Black Z on Durango crossing blue diamond at 6:15 anyone?

Trust me if they say thats the latest they will take till that day..............I sure hope mine are ready tomorrow. That was the "latest" they would be done.

Tazicon 06-07-2013 04:40 PM

They told me I could pick up my rims at 1 so I called at 1, they hadn't even shot the wheels yet...........they say they will be ready before the end of the day but that probably means I won't have time to get my tires mounted and will miss taking the car out to C&C in the morning. Oh well

JENZ 06-07-2013 09:56 PM

Oy vey

JENZ 06-08-2013 12:54 AM

Alrighty off to Canada tomorrow so ill see you all in a week!

Tazicon 06-08-2013 01:56 PM

I got them, ran them over to the tire shop, they put the tires on even though I got there at closing. They look really nice and it seems like they did a very good job. I do believe it was worth the wait. It just tough when you can't drive your car and it's sitting up on jack stands for so long. I will post pictures later on, oh and send photos from Canada!

Tazicon 06-10-2013 12:18 PM

This weekend I will be back under the Z working on the brakes again. This time only 10k miles since I had the rotors turned...........I need to try new pads or something but keep it DD friendly.

SS_Firehawk 06-10-2013 02:27 PM

I know Jenz was struggling at the track, here are a few vids of my car and a buddies car making a pass. Had these in my journal, thought it might help here. I would have gone faster but my O2 sensors were wired all assed up at the time (I didn't know yet). I haven't seen very many Z's get deeper into the 13's stock like they do at other tracks. Idk if it's elevation, heat, track prep, idk. Even a lot of cars that run 12's were averaging mid 13 passes. The GTR's could care less and were snapping off 11.2 -11.3 passes.

Anyways, I launched at about 3500-4000 rpm and seemed to work well. My car had LTH's, HFC, CBE, pulley's, CAI, oil cooler, no tune, and stock tires, didn't adjust pressure, just pulled up and ran it. These were last year on 28 April.

Here is my buddies Z. He has lowering springs, Berk HFC's, Berk CBE, AEM CAI, no tune at the time.

Tazicon 06-11-2013 12:46 PM

You guys are getting some pretty good launches. That seemed to be the thing that was getting most people when I was out there.

Infamous 06-11-2013 07:01 PM

Your wheels look good Taz! Hopefully mine are finished by the end of this week. Anyone want to do a lowering spring install Friday morning? (; jk I might take them to miller spec, Kert quoted me $150 for labor. I think I'm going to pony up, so I don't have to do it in this heat.

That's not bad in this heat I would say its worth it. Hope you get your wheels back soon. Other wise I wouldn't mind helping out. I won't be back in town till Sunday though

I agree, it's worth it completely. It's way too hot to be wrenching. They said Saturday at the latest, so I'm giving them til then. Hopefully it'll be Friday after I get the springs installed though.

Infamous 06-14-2013 05:36 PM

Snail motorsports, you never cease to amaze me... M-Saturday of this week was your timeline you gave me. It takes me 3 calls to get an update from you? First two calls 'Juan is the one taking care of them, I'll have him call you back. He'll be back in an hour' so I wait ~3 hrs between each call and on the third call Juan answers after about 9 rings. He sounds annoyed with me and doesn't even apologize for not returning my calls or taking so long to finish the job. 'The powder won't be here til Monday according to the tracking number' so I ask when I can expect them to be finished 'a few days after I receive the powder...' He told me the powder would only take 2-3 days to arrive after I got them from the polisher weeks ago. Wtf is going on? Sorry for the rant. I'm pretty annoyed.

Tazicon 06-15-2013 12:29 PM

At this point I don't blame you, you have gone through a lot with them and they should be kissing your rear at this point! I hope they take care of you when it comes time to pay.

JENZ 06-16-2013 10:30 AM

SS- thanks for sharing the videos. I am sure many factors play into the differences in time seen in Vegas vs. other tracks. However I also know I suck at launching and that's my biggest weakness at this point. Meh.

Tazi- I will get some Canada pictures up as soon as possible. We got to take out my father in-law's Model A while we were out there. That was a blast!

Infamous- all I can say is wtf.

i noticed those guys are hit or miss. the first time i went there to have my CBR1000RR wheels coated galaxy gold, they took nearly 7 weeks to complete, i was very unhappy with the time frame, but they do exceptionally good work for a very good price. my main pet peeve is when a business tells you an early time frame to make them look good, i HATE that, i prefer the real time frame over the fake one.

It seems like they have issues with special colors etc.
