Hi Everyone,

We moved out to Vegas a little bit ago and since I have had some problems with heat with the Z. 2 weeks ago my car over heated and would still drive but had no power and was very hot on both gauges. So I had a truck come pick it up and take it to United Nissan. They had the car for a day said they couldn't find anything wrong. I said keep it for another day the next day they said there was an air pocket in the cooling lines. Picked it up the next day and seems to be good. Drive it for 2 weeks seems to be ok, it is 110 here so the engine seems to run a little hot then but still working.

Then today when I was driving it for a bit around then went to the mall went inside for a bit came outside and it started but it was seriously fluttering. Just like it was going to stall out but its an automatic. drive it out of the parking space and it just feels like its seriously fluttering and going to stall. Then it does stall out and I cant start it back.

So I call to get it towed, we wait an hour. I try it a few more times and it wont start. The tow driver gets there and we try to start it and it turns over and runs fine. So instead of towing it I drive it home. The tow driver said that with cars out here something in the engine gets hot to the point where gas burnt up before it hits the engine.

So I am wondering if anyone else out here has any of the same issues as me? Has anyone done anything to help with any of these issues? How am I driving a 2012 car that has issues like these??

Argh!

Sucks to hear you're having issues. I bought an oil cooler as a first measure against the heat. Only thing I contested with was the AC blowing hot air because the system wasn't getting fresh air sitting in traffic. Our radiators suck btw, it's way too small. There is a reason they put twin 12" SPAL fans on it. You could try geting a thermostat to let the fluids cool earlier. A lot of us with tuning software also set our fans to come on earlier. You can try flushing your fluis and try running a ratio with more water. Is your car 100% stock?

I got rid of my radiator for a huge GTM unit and larger H.O. 14" straight blade SPAL fans. I also moved yo twin oil coolers now. I boosted the car though... so I kinda needed an overkill upgrade.

reeps 07-04-2013 10:32 PM

Hi Fire,

Car is completely stock as far as engine and cooling. =(

reeps 07-04-2013 10:58 PM

The car is also automatic and I see most of the aftermarket radiators say manual? ...

There is a automatic option usually, maybe as a drop down menu. CSF, Mishimoto, and GTM makes upgraded radiators. CSF is a 30mm single pass. Mishimoto is a 40mm dual pass. GTM is a 70mm dual pass. GTM is overkill and requires a new shroud. The other two fit just fine with minor modification. The transmission cooler is integrated in the stock radiator assembly, and when specifying for an auto radiator unit, it adds the transmission cooler. I would seriously consider an oil cooler unit though, 19 will get you by in the extreme heat, but a 25 row will keep your oil temps down if you decide to flog the car some when it feels like hell outside. I had a 72row unit and loved it. I had to switch to two smaller ones for packaging reasons. Our radiators tend to cost a bit more too because the condenser permanently connected to the stock unit and must be included as well if you want AC. I was selling a CSF and my oil cooler just a couple weeks ago too! Some forum members took them off my hands.

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue to me.....

Is your car under warranty? If its out of warranty you could take it to my husband at Big O. He's a pro at diagnosing issues like this.....

This kind of stuff was a regular issue when we were into rotary motors... So much so that I began to get a knack for knowing the issue before a thorough diagnosis. Not that this has anything to do with a rotary.... Because I've gone back to pistons. :) however I had a fuel delivery issue in my last mustang with similar symptoms.

reeps 07-05-2013 07:28 PM

Its still under warrenty 2012 370z.

JENZ 07-05-2013 07:36 PM

Try a different nissan dealer then and probably ask them to diag your fuel delivery system.... Pump, lines, injectors....also the fuel pressure regulator.

Tazicon 07-06-2013 12:01 PM

My Z is an auto and even though it runs hot at times on the oil, the water temps stay normal. There is something wrong with your car take it in for warranty work. Maybe a different dealer like Jenz said although I take my Z to United.

My wife mainly drives the Z to work every day, but there was one of the 118 degree days that I was out in it driving fairly spirited with out issues other than the oil temps climbing, but not to the limp mode stage. I jump in it at night and play around in it as well with out issues. The other night I got home at 11pm and it was still 105.

Jenz this community is Serenada by harmony homes. It's off cimmaron and mountains edge.

Tazicon you lived at Parkside villas?

JENZ 07-07-2013 09:51 AM

Oh ok. I don't usually venture deeply into mountains edge since we're right on major cross streets but do use some of the small streets to avoid blue diamond traffic.

And I frequent the snap fitness on Cimarron.

reeps 07-11-2013 05:58 PM

I think I hate Vegas! nothing cool here for my Z..

JENZ 07-12-2013 08:27 AM

Tazicon 07-12-2013 06:23 PM

Yea Southern California definately has more than here but you can pretty much get what you want and need here, SoCal is a quick drive away. I go down for a fun a few times a year.

SS_Firehawk 07-17-2013 10:03 PM

If anyone here needs a set of intakes, been trying to sell them for a month to no avail. I'm taking my listing down in a few days. I have a set of gunmetal AEMS. If they don't sell this week, I'll be picking them up with my car when I get home and holding on to them until a later date. Makes me sick to my stomach selling them this low. I just want to close the thread and send the money made to GTM. Take advantage of what I have pricing set now if u want em, not happening again lol. And if you guys can do me a favor and just ping the guys at C&C, I would be grateful. I know most of them already have AEM's or G3's, it's my last push if you will. I'm not at home to do it myself. I will be next month though :D

Link to my sale thread.

I'll let them know at C&C.

Infamous 07-18-2013 01:33 AM

I might want them when you come back. Can't spend much now, but would be willing to pick them up at a later date.
