Yeah, it's "required" to meet emission standards, but they only require inspections on older cars.

If you get pulled over, turn off the engine!

This rule doesn't apply just in AZ, I do it everytime, and (used to) take the keys out of the ignition. Gives a cop that warm fuzzy "he's not gonna run" feeling.

I think I will go with HFC instead seems to be a lot less cel issues that way. If I could find a garunteed way to not deal with that I really like the test pipe idea. I spent an hr talking to my mechanic last night he was all against it(he drives a modded350 and works for Porsche). I value his opinion and after our talk I came home scoured the threads and realized he was dead on with the problems that test pipes have. Grrrr. Oh well HFC's arent that much more.

Its mainly an issue with the positioning of the o2 sensor, most HFC's, Headers, and Test Pipes have an extended port to put the o2 sensor in so it picks up less of the gas flow. This is to prevent them throwing a CEL code. If it still does, I take medium thickness steel wool and pack a bit of it in front of the o2 sensor to block even more of the air flow from reaching the sensor. Worked like a champ in my tC.

Between that, and our synchronized lane shifts, I'd say she's a keeper.

I turn it off too, just to be curteous. I also put my hands on the wheel... which lets him know I've considered brandishing and decided against it.

I meant turn it off if you're rockin an "altered" exhaust... probably a good idea not to leave it running if it SOUNDS like you need an emissions test.

How to take the keys out of the ignition of my 370?? <--sticky plz

JoeZ 06-03-2010 02:56 AM

She's not half bad. Plus she deals with me an my bs so I kinda have to keep her.
