Does anyone want to get together this Fri/Sat night like we planned last week? Would that work for everyone? Maybe now with a little more time in between? lol

How about you Tuscon guys, would yall be able to come up for that?

Get a big AZ group shot? Anyone know a good photographer in the area? lol

I do some photo work. Haven't done cars since the last One Lap of America Race.

PyroCustoms 04-20-2010 08:16 PM

Update on my car status: got it back today, stripped one of the rockers clean off :), guess the engine is just plain wore out. They were able to fix it with a helicoil (sp?) kit, also the plugs were all shot so I got new platinum plugs.

I'm starting to look for a new car b/c I am not spending any more money on this thing, unfortunately I put part of my down payment into fixing the beast and a rental so the Z may be waiting until next spring unless I find a nice '08 or they bring back the $370/mo lease.

XwChriswX 04-21-2010 12:18 PM

That sucks br0, but at least you got it fixed for now. :ugh2:

JoeZ 04-21-2010 04:20 PM

That does suck man. Sorry to hear, keep the dream alive. I am free Sat all day so let me know. I work 4 to 4 on fri. boo. My Light problem has been solved, I returned it. LOL I wasnt aware that the side markers were LED so I didnt want to cut it in half find blue LEDs and rebuild the light housing. Oh well. I also found a different custom installer to do it. So now its May 3rd before he puts it in but he has some cool ideas of where to mount/hide my electronics. Pics to follow.

Introduce me to your installer, there ain't shit over here on the westside, guess I'mma have to go over to the East side if I want anything done. Trying to get all my interior lighting swapped out from Amber to Blue.

JoeZ 04-21-2010 04:28 PM

Actually he is on I17 and Happy Valley. I will hook you up with him after he does my install. I dont want to give someone business until I am sure he does great work. I did look at his previous projects and they are amazing. He has a Lambo he is doing right now ground up fabricating all the interior, its sick. We should start a AZ group page.

XwChriswX 04-21-2010 04:37 PM

I'd totally be down for it. Wonder if they do sponsorships

JoeZ 04-21-2010 04:46 PM

Thats a good idea. I will talk to him next week. I have to leave for work in like 15 min and I am not going to be able to get there til monday but I will talk to him. He is trying to mount my amps behind my seats and cleansweep under the box in the back under the foam core. He wants to make an area in the foam to mount it out of site and be sure its clean. We will see

Sounds interesting. I'm planning on getting a Zenclosures upfire box, and mounting the amp on the back of that right now... Unless I figure out a better way once I get the door speakers wired.

JoeZ 04-22-2010 05:24 AM

I have the rearfacing Zenclosure box. I thought the upfire would be deafening. I am running a Kicker L7 12 and it should pound. Plus the sound should roll off the hatchback toward the front. We will soon find out. I was also given som advice from the guy on here that does all the stereo consults, he said never mount you amp tp your box it does bad things to the internals of the amp. Sounds reasonable.

Hmmmm... my problem is I have 2x 10" L7's, and I don't wanna use one and have the other just sitting around... lol Kinda wasteful. So I'd like to be able to use both, but Zen doesn't make a rear facing box for 2x 10"s dammit!

Then I dunno where else I could mount the amp... its rather large lol. I've never heard that before? I don't see how it could damage it internally being mounted to the box as opposed to the car?

PyroCustoms 04-22-2010 09:05 PM

Hey guys, I'm down for something friday night if there is something going on. I have to go help my older bro finish the closet he's building for his wife Saturday because he broke his arm and she gets home monday (I guess it's a surprise for her) so I'll be working all day sat...

Err, thats no fun. How much stuff does he need to do, sounds like more than a one man party?

JoeZ 04-23-2010 06:49 AM

I have to work Friday so if you want to swing by I will be there. Saddly I cant leave til around 4 am. The closet work sounds like a really cool thing to do for the fam lots of respect points there. I totally understand the box dilemma I have an extra L7 12 I cant use now too. I thought 2 may fit I was wrong. I will sell it one day, maybe. I just decided it is hard to answer multiple posts without writing run on sentences.

k20z3 04-23-2010 06:57 AM

Sick I now live in Maricopia ? Where am I close by :/

JoeZ 04-23-2010 03:46 PM

Hmm, this county has a weird shape so you can be 'close' without being close lol.

It's about half done. It's mostly screwing things to the wall and putting the shelving together now.

Thats cool, glad to see a project coming along, hopefully you'll still be able to get it knocked out before the girl gets home

What kinda dinner place is this? Maybe I'll take a drive over...

I'm in the same boat. I just bought my 370Z and I've got a single JL Audio 13W7 and two 10" Kicker L7's. I don't want to use a single 10" L7 and I don't think the 13W7 will fit.

XwChriswX 04-23-2010 11:36 PM

You also have a black Z. Good on you.

It was good to meet you E, I hope to hang out more in the future. Thanks for the shout out to the bar too.

Good to meet you too. It's a great bar. Now that I don't have school, and won't be taking 2 or 3 classes online at a time for my masters I think I may have some more free time, hopefully.

frost 04-26-2010 10:31 PM

What's shakin gents

JoeZ 04-27-2010 04:00 AM

Hey frost, whats up? Good news, my audio guy called this morning and we are moving it up a week. Tomorrow morning!! I am excited to see/hear everything. I will get pics up and give you guys a run down of the install after. I hope it goes well

XwChriswX 04-27-2010 06:21 PM

Sup guys, anything interesting going on this weekend, or do we wanna get a group together?

JoeZ 04-27-2010 06:45 PM

I work fri night, saturday day and sunday night. Boo busy weekend. I did however get my system 80% done today. Just waiting on my 6.5 components and 3.5 rears to come in Thursday to complete it. Yay. It hits hard but until I have the upgraded mids and tweets it sounds kinda muddy. I expected that. I had it installed at Definitive Audio in the northwest valley. Steve did a great job I will reccomend him from now on. I talked to him today about becoming a forum sponsor he is going to look into it, Pics will be up in a few minutes.

XwChriswX 04-27-2010 07:14 PM

Awesome! What setup did you go with for comps/subs/amps?

All mines gonna be Kicker. I'm very happy with the performance in my tC. I'm sure it will be even better in the Z.

JoeZ 04-27-2010 07:24 PM

I went with Kicker L7 12, Polk Audio 6.5's, tweets and 3.5's I have Phoenix Gold amps. I like the power they deliver and they never have overheated and shut down on me. Pics are up on my albums check it out. The biggest problem is that damn homelink mirror rattles like its a tin can full of rocks. Have to find a way to fix that.

Does it stick to something, or is the mount bolted on? If it's bolted, just go to Home Depot and pick up some rubber washers from the plumbing department. Thats what I would do, and IS what I do with my license plate to prevent it from rattling like some dumb *** people's freakin PoS' you see out here. Works like a champ.

JoeZ 04-27-2010 07:37 PM

Thanks. I dynamated my plate so that is good, but the glass in the mirror is rattling inside the huge case its in. I dont even have a garage door for that thing to control. Bah

Id say crack the case open, and maybe use some exterior mirror glue to permanently mount it in there, and maybe get some foam cubes in the corners to keep it from moving?

JoeZ 04-27-2010 08:05 PM

Good call. I will have to look into that.
