Question for AZ people about emissions/inspections etc
Hey guys, I'm from IL moving to Phoenix - East Valley area within a few weeks. I've heard random stories about emissions laws in AZ and kinda want to hear it from people who actually live there.
Mine is '09 370z with old (pre-sucky) GTM SuperCharger kit. UpRev tuned and stock ECU. Still passes regular emission tests here in Illinois. No CEL's etc. Wife's car is '78 280Z, fully restored. Original L28 with big *** turbo. AEM Infiniti StandAlone ECU. Currently Exempt from emission tests in IL because of age. Both of our cars are insured thru Grundy under "collector car insurance" if that matters, I think i heard something about that coming into play with being exempt. Or maybe it was collector / classic car plates? Cars are going into storage in IL until we get settled in. But was hoping someone can let me know what we're in for. Thanks |
I have a SC 2009 370Z. I just passed no problem. As long as no codes and u have cats you shouldn't have any problems.

Anyone know the deal on older cars? |
Welcome :tiphat:
'78 isn't old enough for exemption: Q: Who is required to have their vehicle emissions tested? A: All residents of the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas and those who regularly commute into the areas for work or school are required to have their 1967 or newer vehicles pass an emissions test. Most vehicles newer than 6 years old are exempt from testing, and certain other vehicle exemptions apply (see Exemptions). If you are not sure if you live in the emissions control area, CLICK HERE.
