Brakes, brakes, any deals on brakes?

I know a lot of people are looking for good deals on BBK's; but I thought I'd throw my hat in. If anyone stumbles across this and is thinking about upgrading and selling their Akebono BBK or someone is getting rid of their car and wants to sell a higher end BBK, please let me know!

Also- if anyone has the low down on the absolute best-bang-for-you-buck place to buy a 370Z BBK, please let me know. I've been all over the web searching, but I am not sure I've found the lowest price.

Thanks!

Have you looked at this?

Thanks for the site Cmike, the prices look pretty good there.

As an FYI- I am starting with a base Z's brakes, so I was looking at Akebono kits first, or perhaps if someone had a AP, Rotora, Brembo, Wilwood, Stoptech, etc. kit they were parting with.

after my forgestar wheels eventually come in, I may be upgrading to AP Racing calipers. I currently have that Brembo setup that uses your front factory rotors and rear akebonos. I need to see what kind of clearance the wheels have with my brembo calipers first though.

I don't remember where, but you can pick up a brand new set of the Akebono from the sports package for around $1,600 (calipers, lines & rotors). If I remember the site, I'll post it here.

Edit: Found it!

Mike- Not quite sure I am following your upgrade path here  What exactly are you potentially doing, and what might you have available? Keep me posted!

Cmike- Thanks! I did come across these, you can get 40th Anniversary (red) Akebonos, SS lines, slotted rotors, and fluid for around $1800... which is definitiely a good deal from what I see... but through my searching I've also found people selling used big-boy kits in the past year or two, 15" BBK's going for $2800, $3000, etc. and I thought... hmnn... only $1000 more :excited:

Yeah I saw a BBK for sale a few months back for under $3k. I have the non-sport brakes also. I might just upgrade the rotor's, lines and pads since I don't plan to track the car anytime soon. If you do plan to track, go for the real BB kit, otherwise I can't really justify the extra cost just to look pretty.

I currently have the brembo upgrade that fits the stock front rotors. Its great for street driving, but when you change the pads, you have to take the caliper off of the car, and pads last me about 3 track weekends, so its a pain to swap them as much as I do. A normal person would not change as often as I do and its no big deal.

Once I get my new wheels, and recover from that cost, I may upgrade to ap racing. If I do, I will be selling the complete setup, including repowdercoating and rebuilding them so they are in as new condition in any color wanted.

Mike- I may be interested- and depending on if you decide to part with them- our timings might line up pretty well. Would you be upgrading your front and rears? I am assuming you have the Brembo upgrade in the front and Akebono's in the rear? You would happen to have any pictures of your current setup laying around, would you?

Thanks!

front and rear
I do, but you probably can't see them too well, they are flat black without logos, because thats all that holds up on track.
