But yes the Nissan has a knock sensor and the right tuning tools will tell you what's going on

Thought so. FKA, FKL...I'm sure all modern OBD2 cars have something vs. Going aftermarket.

Well, obviously I never built a car. Ever. This is my first build. Expensive start but hopefully it will eliminate stupid decisions; which is why I am here to ask the questions and learn from mistakes and not pull the same stuff others have. Thank you guys for all of your advice.

As for losing about a quart a change well, Mobil apparently is crap oil, if I would have known better earlier in my money pits life span things would have been different. Regardless, learn me the ways of not sucking at cars.

It's not crap, just not ideal in all cars/motors. My/wife's merc c300 has euro M1 0w40 in it and doesn't burn a drop. It's got 5-6k on the oil now and it's still showing full. The car isn't raced or anything and I don't believe the motor runs hot so M1 is fine for this particular car.

And from data logging my car with cai, LTH, CBE, they look amazing!! Little rich WOT in the upper rpms, but nothing to hurt a plug. My WRX ran a full 1.0 richer at WOT and were fine. Unless they changed the tune in 13, I'm sure your logs were ok too.

No, I visually inspected the plugs myself and they were awful. Which may have been caused by a mix of wrong fuel usage by original owner and the mods.

Been using M1 5w30 for awhile. Haven't burned a drop of it. My Z doesn't use oil thank god. :excited: Last oil change I which over to the Euro M1 0w40.

A loot of folks here like the K&N filter -- I use that one myself, FWIW

part number for the K&N oil filter is HP-1008

Yeah I use the K&N filter as well, but I use HP-1010. It's the same basic size, but a longer can (more filter media area). Even with a sandwich plate adapter for an oil cooler, it still fits on the car. These things sometimes change over time, so you never know if my info is out of date, but last I heard over on the bitog forums, the K&N filters are just rebranded Mobil1 filters, and both are very good quality filters. I like the K&N out of the two because it has a 1-inch sheet metal nut on the end. If you buy a simple 1-inch open wrench, it makes removing the filter a breeze.

...Various Mobil-1 oil posts...
M1 is definitely a high-quality motor oil. I don't use it myself in my track car, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if my top choice was unavailable (I use Motul 300V, but for various reasons I'm not sure I'd recommend that oil for a daily driver, either - it's pricey and it goes bad from absorbing water faster, supposedly). I also find it hard to believe that the viscosity difference between a 0wX and 5wX oil would make any difference in any kind of leaking or burning of oil in any reasonable scenario (but who knows, I guess?). The only other thing I can remember to say about M1 is that the "Extended Performance" really is a better-quality variant than the normal stuff, I'd use it whether or not I was doing long drain intervals, on an engine you care about.

You need to grow up, 'cause I wasn't poking fun at anybody. Just tell you at my Z doesn't burn oil. THAT's all. :shakes head: You're the hypocrite. :gtfo2:

So any comment someone's made about me in the last week or so and you quote them with a "lol", "haha", "", etc isn't poking? Senile, dementia much? I'll refresh your memory if you need it pops.

No, I thought that some of the comments were just funny. Some people have set you up. You didn't see it coming and stepped into it. That's what I think it's funny. Everybody else can see it coming. That's from being young and inexperienced. You always got to have an edge on your shoulder, and you're thin-skinned. If I was thin-sknned. I would be up-set over the "Senile, dementia much?" comment. But I'm not. I think it's funny you took the time to see my age. You have some good ideas. But can't get them across at times because of that edge. I'm not here to bust your balls. Just here to point out a few things. So lighten up. Look at the funny side of things, and enjoy life. Because life is shorter then you know my friend. ;)
