About to get a tune... Requirements, recommendations?

I am about to get a tune... I have FI HFC's and catback as well as Stillen Gen 3 intakes. My car has about 23k miles on it and I am wondering if I should look into new spark plugs or anything like that before/after getting this tune done..

Unless Nissan changed things since my last 350Z, the spark plugs should be good for 100K miles. You're not going forced induction or nitrous so a colder plug is not necessary.

With that said it never hurts to pull the plugs and check to make sure everything is okay and there is no evidence of detonation (knock).

@ 23k nothing really make sure you oil is good and all the fluids are full. AN keep us posted on numbers, 310WHP is about right :)

Where are you going for your tune? I'm south of the 'burgh. Nobody around here to do it. So, I went over towards philly (city of brothers on drugs) RT Tuning. Vince tuned my Nismo. I like his work.

I am heading to:
http://www.aamcompetition.com/

It's in MD and it's about an hour closer than RT is.

Im going to RT on Tuesday, second tune from them. I was gonig to replace the plugs as well, just because, but good luck finding them(other than ordering them)...The ngk that is on their site is a 7 heat range...should be an 8 from what I have seen...and the online OEM parts diagrams(courtesy etc) list the fxe22, which is also a step hotter than the fxe24...so confusing haha, I can get the fxe22 from advance the same day...

I have the same setup except I have FI TDX 12" res. w/test pipes and the Gen III setup. So I'm gonna piggyback your thread. What type of tune are you going to do? uprev?

mag_black 08-23-2013 12:59 PM

I think he already did it and it was UpRev. Make sure to get wstar's throttle maps, and tweak fan control to 185, 195, 210. Run a tuned map w/o throttle and w/ throttle so you can choose what you like.

edit: Noticed you're in Michigan. Weather.com shows that youre in the 70's - 80's this month. Pretty much like MA. and I hit 220 here so that should help you out.
