Uprev @ Zcargarage

Just wanted to share my results from my tune(s) from Rob @ Zcargarage. First off I've had a positive experience with Zcargarage, I'm quite OCD about things but they haven't disappointed.

For the first chart, blue was completely stock, and red was with Ark Grip v2 CBE without tune.

Blue: Stock baseline
Red: W/ Ark Grip
Time: Different days

Second chart is w/ Ark CBE baseline and tuned.

Blue: Ark Baseline
Red: Ark tuned
Time: Same day

So I ended up swapping out the Ark exhaust with the Berk CBE, so the third chart is with AFE Takeda Intake and Berk CBE - baseline and tuned.

http://f.cl.ly/items/2b3t311F3j3M0Z1D3D0X/uprev2.jpeg

Blue: Berk CBE + Takeda CAI baseline (on stock tune)
Red: Tuned
Time: Same day

As you can see modded, my baseline was actually lower than stock.
My conclusions: Before tune felt that the Berk CBE noticeably added a lot more power than the Ark did, but later after installing the AFE did not add much if any power - really nice sound though under throttle.

Hope this helps you guys.

You baselines 300whp? Thats pretty crazy. Congrats on the numbers.

How comparable were the temps between the ARK day and the Berk + Takeda day?

Power under the curve is definitely better with the 2nd setup, but I wonder how much of that has to do with the addition of the intake to mix if any.

Thanks for the info though. :happydance:

That is on a DynoJet as you see. The numbers will be %10-%15 lower on your typical Mustang or DynoDynamics loaded dyno. The numbers mean little though quite frankly. You can see the gains between the runs which is what is really important when talking about tuning.

I honestly don't remember the temp differences. I forgot to add I had the ECU replaced because I suspected a whine (didn't get fixed btw) so that could be another factor.

The only thing about the Ark I liked was the exhaust note, but the drone, fitment, look, quality, having to drill holes, I did not like. Once I switched to the Berk, I could really feel a little extra power. I honestly felt like the stock intakes might have made more power, since the takeda's silicone couplers actually reduce the diameter of air as they fit through the holes where the stock was drawing air in from. Also the filter is jammed up against the bumper so half of it is blocked.

I just took the car autocrossing and the tune definitely made the car feel awesome to drive and the gains were noticeable, thanks Rob!

Thanks for sharing all that info. Threads with dyno charts and comparos really get me all excited :eekdance:

Well said.. Everyone seems to overlook what the purpose of the dyno is.

PBTS, where is the Z Car Garage??? San Jose area, or further up-state? I'm down in Monterey, and have been wanting to tune & Dyno my car. I've done similar with my Ninja ZX-10R and was happy with the results... Just don't know anyone down here that can tune a car. Also, how much did it cost you to tune?

ZCG is in San Jose right by the airport. Cost wise its pretty standard - was around $600+ for uprev license + tune.

Oh, I fully understand the purpose of a dyno. But 300whp on a dynojet is suggesting more than 330 at the motor. Unless our cars only have 10% drivetrain loss. Also, dynojets are the only dyno that you can't mess with the numbers.
