Did I get a tune ?
So don't flame me here as I'm a newbie on tunes and don't have any cable or software yet because I went to a performance shop and got an uprev tune done. My question is, how can I tell if I really got a tune ? Sure the guy showed me a dyno chart of where they tuned it, but said they didn't run the numbers before the tune, so feeling like I was ripped off. Doesn't seem like the car has been tuned or increased in performance that much at all. Is it possible to get my car tuned somewhere else now that it has the uprev license on it "supposedly", or am I locked into using this provider ? Thanks all in advance.

Two options:
-Go to another shop and have them look, a good shop should be nice and look for free. -Find someone local who has an Uprev cable and they can help. |
Third option: take it to a dealership and see if they raise hell.
But seriously, do you have any mods besides that? What were the hp gains on the dyno? Do you notice anything different about your car? Is it more responsive? Peppier? Has it blown up? Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff |
Seems a little peppier, really hard to tell though. From 1-3 it seems a little sluggish. The Dyno chart he showed me said 300whp which from what I'm reading is standard for N/A with FI CBE/HFC'S 18' resonated with G3 intake and an uprev, but then again since I'm not feeling much difference maybe its just due to it being evened out through the power band an I'm just not noticing it as much.
It does seem to spin the tires fine with VDC off and when you hit it, albeit the 1-2 second pause on that. Sound common? Thanks guys for your feedback. |
Um confused a little, You went some where paid like $600 for a tune got not chart and was not told numbers? Did you get a receipt? Or cash,, Sounds very fishy to me.. They should have no pulls before the tune, Tuned it gave a chart of the runs ( Some of them anyway) and told you numbers you AF and giving to you for you to show us,, :)
An you should be over 300WHP I made that with out HFC's should have been more like 315WHP and 260 ISH WTRQ, Mu numbers where on a heart breaker so I know they are pretty real. Like stated above go somewhere eles and see if they will help you, But doesnt sound right to me, :( |
Yeah, I got the dyno chart given to me and I paid via CC, well known shop in the area, but I too was expecting 307-310whp not 300whp, maybe the weather or the dyno, friend of mine always says "different dyno different day"
|
This is very true, a 10-15hp variance doesn't surprise me too much.

So not sure what the question is then, IF you saw it on the dyno, They gave you a sheet, Not sure what you are asking about,, All tho the car should be a night and day difference in drivability, All of the gains are made in the mid range.

What other mods do you have? The UpRev tune is used to maximize how all the pieces work together. Tuning a stock car without any mods won't do much for example. Did they show you how to switch maps with the cruise control?

The fastest way to know is VERY simple...try the map switching feature which should be enabled with every UpRev license.
Hold the Cruise Control button down (Coast/Set) and press Cancel once, then let go. If the Cruise SET light flashes once on your dash, then you have an UpRev tune. If it doesn't, you most likely don't and I'd go back to the shop. Go try that now. |
Any shop worthy of their name will always run several baseline runs to track trends/improvements as they perform the tuning. Without doing so, how can they know if there's improvement???
|
:iagree: wut he said.
They have to have a base line, that is what they are 'tuning' for improvement. |

Many shops do base runs and go straight into tuning and then to appease the customer save the final couple runs to show AFR is in check and final HP/TQ numbers. |
OP post your dyno sheet. Does it include AFR?
Also, as mentioned above you can try the map switching feature. That will tell you if you have a UpRev license on the vehicle, but doesn't tell you anything about if they tuned it properly. |
I got Uprev tuned this morning.... 338hp/265tq on dyno - but car def feels a lot smoother and pulls better- u should def feel a difference.
***keep in mind: if car is hot u may not feel it, let it cool and drive it again |

No they did not ..and you guys have answered my questions for the most part..appreciate your feedback! Thanks |
How do you switch maps with CS though, would love to know, at least for the Valet.

Someone asked to see my dyno sheet, they did not give me it digitally so had to take a snap of it on camera...lol, you can see why I'm questioning the tune kinda looks like low numbers for the mods I have no?Attachment 50881

Yeah it's hard to read but you hp should peak higher than that...

Once you have the Osiris license on your ecu any other uprev tuner can tune it without having to purchase a new license... but you can't take it off or look at it without buying the cable. One reason why I personally think its in most guy's best interest to not just get flashed and tuned at a shop..

You got this done at Forged? Honestly, they're extremely reputable and I doubt they screwed you.
Did you follow my map switching steps? Try that as well, please. And I encourage you to contact them since they're service is quite good. |

As for the map switching steps, I don't want to switch maps without knowing which one I'm in, how would I know..I don't want to go switching the map
Only to find out I'm running in some limited mode, how would I tell which I'm in ? |
The one you're in now is Map 1. So by doing the above steps, you won't be switching to any maps, you'll just be confirming that you're in map 1 and have an Osiris tune. Map 2 is usually an alternate to map 1. Map 3 is stock map. And Map 4 is a valet map that limits the car to 30MPH.

You need to go back through & read what people posted......... |
Buddy,
He doesn't say how to switch between maps, what it "says" is to find out "if" it has an uprev tune on it to follow those procedures, so it was read correctly. If you can't contribute something positive please refrain from posting at all..thanks. To the instructions that were given, they were followed and it does indeed have a n uprev tune, but how do you switch between the maps and know which on you are in; this was "not" answered..;) |

I hope it helps? From Uprev Q&A How does map switching work? Using the Cruise Control Buttons... -Hold the set/coast toggle down -Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc... -Then release the set/coast toggle. -When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc... Typical maps are: Cruise control blinks: 1: Tuned Map for 91 Octane=== 1 blink 2: Tuned Map for Higher Octane === 2 blinks 3: Valet=== 3 blinks 4: Anti-Theft=== 4 blinks 5: Factory Maps=== 5 blinks I normally just reset to the 1st map to remind me what map I was on Normally I'm the 1st map so other than that there's no visual to remind you of what map you were on. I hope that helped |
Thanks Triples, that's what I was looking for, so I have all my answers, thanks guys. Tried locking the thread but it won't let me for some reason, if you would Triple..thanks again!
