Uprev on Stock Motor

I tried some searching but came up empty so sorry if this has been covered, but...

I was wondering if any of you have done an uprev etune on a bone stock car and if so, what should I expect? Is it worth it or a waste of money?
Thanks in advance!

Not at all worth it 'til you slap on a few bolt ons. I did bare minimum which was AAM Short tail (basically a muffler delete) and K&N Drop-in filters before I got my UpRev done.

I'm sure drivability will improve depending on how rich you're running on stock. Aside from that you can get a few extra perk such as;

Fan Control (No more overheating stop/go traffic)
Higher Idle RPM
Remove Top Speed Limiter
Raise Rev Limiter
Choose up to 5 maps
- 91/93/100 Octane optimized
- Fuel Economy
- Valet Mode (Won't let you rev pass 3k RPM)
- Theft Mode (Car won't start - though it will try to crank)
- Stock Map

I'm sure I have missed a few things.. but there are many benefits aside from just the power gain. If you have the money and feel the need to have it done, you should.

Where do we get this done? Mi called a couple of places in Houston and they don't do the uprev anymore.

How do you choose these maps?

I hope it helps? From Uprev Q&A

How does map switching work?
Using the Cruise Control Buttons...
-Hold the set/coast toggle down
-Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...
-Then release the set/coast toggle.
-When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...

If you google "g35 map switching" there are many YouTube videos out there

I would recommend doing bolt-on as full cat-back system, cold air intake kit, HFC, change to better new spark plugs, new oil change, then you be set for tune.

Do these basic maps and features come with uprev tune no matter what? The guys who did my uprev were talking about just giving me one map...

If you don't have cruise control you can only hold one map, but other than that most tuners that I know of do some version of these maps.. You'll only get one performance tune tho

kkruel55 07-09-2012 05:53 AM

Ahh ok thats great. I have cruise control. Yea one performance tune is all I want, I just think the valet mode is a good thing haha.

seymore4 07-09-2012 08:38 AM

Where'd you get the tune done? If they didn't set it up for you when you got tuned I'm sure you could go back and get it done for free, should take all of 3 minutes, including the time it takes to flash your ecu, lol
