Is there any DIY programmers that would compare to an UpRev tune?

I live in central B.C. Canada and would have to drive a fair ways to a shop that provides UpRev tuning. I've installed stillen gen 3 CAI, and CBE. I'd like to balance out the new fuel/air ratio with a tune. I have read up on a couple programmers such as Hyperteck and Cobb access port. Just wondering if anyone has tried either of these programmers and if it will hold the same function or compare to a tune by UpRev. The elimination of the electronic throttle restriction from 0-60 sounds very appealing on the programmers also.

any advice is appreciated, thanks

Roy.

you can get e-tuned using UpRev I know R/T tuning specializes in it. Cobb stopped supporting the Z34.

You can. also buy the tuned version and take it to a shop of your choice... Or do it yourself (not advised)

Hmm, I do know a tuner in van. But if its pre-tuned then its not really specific to my car. Perhaps i could purchase the tunable UpRev and bring that to him. Probably not trained in UpRev tuning but an experienced tuner should be able to figure it out. Thanks for the replies guys, so has anyone else heard of or tried the Hyperteck programmer, or is that just a waste of time and money?

Hypertech is a canned tune. I wouldn't recommend it when you can do better with an etune. Uprev asks what mods your car is running and work from there. If you have cipher, its even better because now they have log files with detailed info to make your changes. At $50, you can Resend a new log file with the etune Rom loaded and have them tune again. I would be checking it on rollers first with the AFR sniffer before that to see if its even needed..

Any experienced tuner will be able to figure out the uprev software pretty easily, it's not exactly rocket science. You'll just need to purchase the $700 tuner version so that he can tune it since the shop isn't an uprev protuner shop. Uprev is going to give you hands down better results than any canned tune, you only real decision should be between the email tunes with Osiris standard and dyno tune with Osiris tuner.

Personally I would go with the local dyno tune, even if he's not familiar with the software yet. You tune will take longer, but he'll figure it out and do his best. Not to mention that he's going to pay extra careful attention because it's a new software. Being in a different country there are so many variables that can differ, elevation, air density, temperature, fuel, etc etc. I'll probably get flamed for it but personally I'd trust the local dyno.

Just order the $500 Osiris Standard package with 3 free etunes. The canned tune that comes with the package will be a big improvement to the driveability of the car and the subsequent etunes will dial it in even closer. If you plan on tracking/racing or going FI, then you will need a dyno tune to get the max out of your car. The etunes will suit 90% of the street users... :twocents:

Yea just having CBE and CAI the stock ECU should have been able to balance that pretty well on its own. That being said the canned tune you speak of may be all that is required, just for the wide open throttle restriction, timing and whatever other factory fun wreckers are in there. I am also getting a stillen front fascia installed after this weekend. Should look awsome and provide more air for my Stillen Gen 3's :)

Ask for the fan tune mod in your first etune as well. It makes a difference. I overheated in rush hour in Kelowna once before too....

They did it for me and now the fan comes on sooner and cools the engine down in stop and go traffic better....
