Race Gas

I have a quick question before I go to VP Racing: I want to try running on my higher octane Uprev map and am going to pick up some 110 Octane race gas. My question is should I mix it in 50/50 with regular 91 octane gas?

I know not to run 100% race gas as it will corrode the aluminum block but I want to try it out and obviously want to check how much I should mix in before I go buy it haha.

Thanks in advance!

Highly oxygenated fuels can be moderately corrosive. As long as you're not using it 100% of the time you should be fine.

I would mix it 50/50 - but don't expect a huge power bump. The car feels slightly more responsive and seems to fade less towards the end of the session when heat soak usually causes the ECU to start to pull some advance.

Most of the time I just stick to 93, race gas isn't worth the money unless they're selling it cheap.

I wish we had 93, but this is the Socialist state of California where 91 is the best we can get. I would be happy with a bit of a jump in power but more so if the car feels more responsive, thanks for the advice Chris!

No not really, the fuel is the least of their issues.

At least we can suffer together, if I ever become president I will make it illegal to have anything less than 93 octane in every state.

It depends what octane the map is for. I'd do 50/50 in your situation.

:iagree:

Well, that was a dud. Apparently, you cannot just fill race gas from a vendor anymore. Now, it is California law to buy a fuel canister to be filled and then fill your tank from the canister. Looks like I will have to wait till tomorrow after Cars and Coffee to pick a tank up from Home Depot. :shakes head:

Weird. I wonder what the motivation behind that is?

E85!!!! cheaper and better for the environment, but you do have to do fuel line and injector upgrades
