UPREV and CEL! help

hey guys,

So I had my car tuned with UPREV at a local shop called AWDtuning. They tuned the car and I got some nice gains.

My question though, I have test pipes and it was throwing the cel prior to getting it tuned. I had them turn it off, but it came back. I had them clear it again, and after about 75 miles it is back again. I am stumped, and I was told uprev would allow me to change this... is there anything else it could be? It is throwing the catalyst code.

Is there a possibility that they are clearing it but not saving it?

Please help as I need to get an inspection soon!

They are most likely only clearing the trouble code and not turning off the rear o2 sensors. Instead of having them perform that option via Uprev, you can get an o2 defouler which basically moves the o2 sensor further from the exhaust stream to get rid of the CEL:

Can I have them just turn the rear 02 sensors off? Will it still effectively work permanently clearing the CEL? Would my cars fuel map change with the CEL even though I have a tune? Thanks for your input!

No it would not change the fuel trims since the rear o2 sensors are simply there to make sure the cats are present and functioning properly. The problem is that if you turn them off and go to emissions testing after reinstalling cats, you will fail as they would give an error when the emissions test looks for sensor readiness.

With a defouler, you just bolt it on and when you need to, bolt it off in a couple minutes rather than having to go to the Uprev tuner each time you need it turned on or off.

Cool, thanks for the advise. I will probably bite the bullet and purchase the defoulers. I just wanted to make sure that the cel didnt mess with the fuel trims as I plan on doing nitrous very soon.

What TP do you have? I have GTM's. Haven't had an issue. Having the longer extenders that GTM makes on there TP's makes the difference.

Have them disable the rear O2's and never worry about a CEL for your test pipes again.

Keith did tune it. He has numbers and a graph. I dont mind him sharing if he sees this.

How much power did you make after the tune? I'm thinking about getting a tune but only after I get test pipes too. So far I only have intakes and CBE.
