dyno tune vs street tune
 

Talked to a local tuner who does street tuning, he does tracking and he recommends tuning a car on street as it is exposed to real variables than on a dyno and he got all the software and equipment to log

From what I read on other forums and most of them are F.I cars

1)A/F ratios can be fine tuned and easy to monitor this
2) Ignition timing results will be harder to monitor.
3) Street tuning is not safe unless done on a private road.

Tuner wants about $450, I guess it'll take few hours to tune from a factory map but I've a custom tuned map that was done on a dyno, would I not be better off starting on this tuned map as a base?

I agree, but he has no dyno. My tuner for my MS3 would dyno tune( Mustang) then take after he was done on the dyno he would run the car on the street for 30 mins of so taking logs of all speeds and throttle points. Street tunes are tuff. Who is going run the car up and down the same street for like 3 hrs and not get in trouble??

You usually wind up tweaking the tune on the street after it has been dyno tuned to account for those quirks on the street, but I usually like to have it initially tuned on a dyno.

what kind of tweaking gains are usually expected, assuming it'll be across the power band.

You don't usually see power gains, it's usually more for drivability.
