What maps is everyone with an UpRev tune running?

Since they come with five maps I was kind of debating what to do with mine but I'd like some opinions and to see what you guys are running on yours. I searched but didn't really see another thread like this. Plus I've been trying to get in touch with the guys at UpRev all day but had no luck. But for mine I was thinking:

1. Stock
2. Tuned (Remove speed limiter and smooth AFR's, not sure what else they do, adjust redline, etc?)
3. Economy (not sure exactly how they configure these either)
4. Valet (3000 RPM redline and 30mph speed limiter)
5. Security (I've seen where some people were doing this too, how exactly do they configure this?)

Thanks for looking!

Btw, I got the Osiris Standard and I'll be doing the e-tunes since I'm about two hours away from the nearest dyno

I don't think there is a point in keeping a stock map. Depending on how far off your stock tune is, modified cars often run leaner on their stock tune due to breathing modifications.

Another option is a low octane map, where the timing is pulled back a bit in the event that you go to an area without high octane gas, or you feel like being a cheapskate :p

Economy maps set a lower rev limiter and slightly leaner fuel targets i think.

The idea behind the security map is that you set the speed limiter to 1mph, so if a thief tries to drive your car away, they will just  and ditch the car not far from it's original spot.

Oh thats a cool idea with the lower octane map! As far as the stock map, isn't that typically used if you need to go in for any warranty work so they dealer won't void your warranty?

I run on the tuned map at all times. However, the security map effectively immobilizes the car. It will crank and crank but will not fire up even with the key. All you have to do is know how to put it on the regular map and it will start right up. The valet map limits speed and rpm.

So you made 309WHP on a can tune? Or did you have it tuned?

Vince@R/T 04-08-2011 03:16 PM

I usually do 5 maps as follows....

1- 93 Octane
2- 91 octane
3- Valet
4- Anti Theft
5- Stock

Most people are pretty happy with that set up. 5 maps is more then what ya typically need and I leave MAP 5 stock just to have that option...

So if someone might have to go in to the dealership for warranty work would they just switch to the stock map or would the ECU have to be re-flashed? (I'm assuming you're a tuner) How do you feel about an economy class or a lower octane class? Also, what settings do you usually do on different maps? (redline, idle, anything else I might have to specify?)

I had it custom tuned, but I need to get a new dyno reading now that I have a CBE. I will also be having the redline raised to 8,000 rpm and have the tune made to be a bit more aggressive.

I am hoping to hit 320rwhp.

Hey Pete, I do have some guys ask for a lower octane map and we can do that as well. I don't advise it cause these motors are still high comp for a factory motor. As far as the dealer is concern they can look at the map but chances are at the dealer level that they wouldn't be able to tell what was changed. However if there was an issue that the dealer or rep had to look into the ECU, they can tell how many times it has been flashed..

Redline I usually do 7800, idle i set at 850...and then just trim in timing and fuel...

red6spd 04-08-2011 06:40 PM

I run just the one performance tune with the speed limiter removed and the Redline raised only 100rpm's

1slow370 04-09-2011 03:46 AM

if they plug in at a service area to check say an ses light they may be able to check the checksum of the tune and i belive the uprev flash has a different check sum. it's best to do a full removal (reflash it back to stock and unlink the cable from the ecu) if going in for big warranty work

Nice!! :tiphat:

UpRev has a dealer page that shows a map of all the pro tuner shops that use their software.

Thanks for the info guys! :tiphat:

I dumped my ROM yesterday and sent it to them. They said it would be 2-4 weeks, hopefully it will be closer to 2

Does the engine still make good power at 7800?
Also, has anyone revved the engine up high enough to start getting valve float? Just curious what all we can do with the VQ37.

If I get a UpRev dyno tune, not the e-tune, does it not include the 5 maps? I was told by Akuma that I only get one map if its dyno-tuned. Each additional map would be extra. If I went with the Osiris standard e-tune process, I can get all 5 they said. Just confirming if this is correct.

mag_black 08-28-2013 10:33 PM

It should include 5 maps I paid $500 for dyno/tune and 5 maps. I don't know why they'd charge extra for things like valet, anti-theft.

cg2006 08-28-2013 10:34 PM

Did you get to keep the license?

It depends on the shop, it doesn't take any more time to set up the rest of the maps so I don't understand why some tuners don't set them all up. Charging for "extra" maps is a rip off unless you're getting something completely different like a race gas tune

cg2006 08-29-2013 11:14 PM

I agree. I was taken back when he told me that too. I ended up buying the Osiris Standard package so can I add the Valet, Security, Stock maps myself?

Leuz 08-29-2013 11:29 PM

I currently have:
- Tune map
- Valet
- Stock
Here in Cali we don't get 93, so no need for that :)

seymore4 08-29-2013 11:29 PM

You can't but the tuner you bought it from can, or uprev if you went direct

At least now, the dyno tune will be cheaper. In NE, we can get tunes w/o license for $150 - 250.

To answer your question before; I have no idea if I get to keep the license or not. I don't have the cipher cable so I can't really take it w/ me. I would assume that I could keep it if I were to get the cable.
