I'm pretty sure someone tried this already and saw exactly 0 gains from it.

Yeah, but that's less fun :icon17:

Also, I don't know that anyone knows what the values mean -- but yest that would be good too!

Details!

you can read the vvel in degress of activation its not hard to see the difference with Uprev.
if there is a difference then we should be able to come on a conclusion that they tuned the vvel on the nismo.

Okay, I'm sold on this admittedly less crazy idea.

So... who will do it? :nutswinger:

I can probably get OEM VVEL data in due course, so all we need is a Nismo-er...

ohhh this just got intresting...in for results

That would be bitchin'

We should probably also get data from a MT... any volunteers?

What -- really? Someone swapped in a Nismo ECU?

Again, is the VVEL ECU in the same box or not? If not, maybe they only did half the swap???

Red__Zed 04-01-2011 04:57 PM

subscribing for info.

the VVEL actuator motor are connected to their Module which is then connected into the ECM...

but no one knows what unit does what and how...

edit ; i doubt someone just swaped a Nismo Ecu into a normal 370z because its a bit more complicated than that

You can't swap the ecu as the key is programed into the ecu plus the vin number. This a possibility if there is a second ecu just the vvel system.

Red__Zed 04-01-2011 10:28 PM

If anybody runs across a cheap Z ecu let me know, I would love to play around with one and see what's going on with it.

Really -- now that is interesting. So you can't just swap out the ECU?

Drink more man, you have some good ideas.

thanks for posting those dyno graphs earlier, pretty eye opening. Seems to me like the nismos def have some ecu and/or vvel tuning going on that is pretty legit and it's more than just a cbe accounting for the extra bit of power.

What I'm really curious to see (and this is obviously a couple years out) is how they differentiate the nismo powerwise from the regulars 370's once they incorporate DI, or maybe they won't?
