Yeah, she's fine but I can't tune her like that and then fix it and get a retune that would be dumb. I'm not upset over the fix or the cost, it could have been worse and it's a lesson learned though I would have been happier without learning the hard way.

damn sorry to hear

NYBladeZ 09-07-2010 03:48 PM

I guess the reason why I'm not really bummed is because I know I can get 330whp out of her but I won't quantify that until next Tuesday.

that sucks man... next week. where is the leak?

NYBladeZ 09-07-2010 04:09 PM

I'll tell you after I get it fixed^^ otherwise I'll just anger myself and I've thus far done a good job of not getting mad.

Glad you had a positive experience Rez!

It was unfortunate that there was a minor repair that needs to be done before we can tune the car correctly, but no worriews man. Next week we'll get this going.

Our facility uses a Mustang 2WD/ AWD Chassis Dynamometer and, a SuperFlo engine dynamometer as well for engine builds and our race program. Some say its reads higher and some say it reads lower... We're pretty much in line with the run posted by 370Steve.

As a precaution, I am anxiously waiting for the new software for our dyno, which Mustang claims, is only a week or two away. Dyno gets calibrated weekly to ensure accuracy.

Click the vid on my sig to see the dyno ;)

I'll see you next week Rez :)

Update: dropped off the car at the express drop off this evening. Alex will have it waiting for him tomorrow morning. Picking her up Friday, she'll probably be done Thursday but I'm working and I can't make it out to Smithtown and back to NYC in time.

you won't regret it, the dyno does seem to read high, but the power picked up by the tune is there regardless. I gained about 15hp/8tq after the uprev.

NYBladeZ 09-16-2010 11:22 AM

I probably would have gained more if I had intakes but I plan on going F.I. and I don't want to throw away the intakes in the trash can or take a hit on the resale. 320ish whp should keep me happy for now.

Joebarchuck 09-16-2010 01:33 PM

336WHP is almost 396HP at the flywheel on the 370Z which is very close to 400HP without forced induction. That's quite good.

mpp9 09-16-2010 04:26 PM

I've been thinking, wouldn't someone get a majority of the gains associated with full boltons by going just hfcs and either a dyno tune or canned map?

NYBladeZ 09-16-2010 05:47 PM

^^ I would say something more like Long Tube Headers and a CBE, dynos have so far shown that the OEM intakes aren't all that restrictive until you go beyond 6800rpm.

mpp9 09-16-2010 08:30 PM

Im going for a emissions passable daily driver set up. I just think hfcs really make a catback meaningless other than for sound. After reading the forums for a year now I think 30 whp isnt out of the question with hfcs and a proper tune. So for a grand on an na platform is damn good.

NYBladeZ 09-16-2010 10:30 PM

Actually it is out of the question. Prior to getting the long tube headers I had test pipes matched with the stock exhaust. Sound wise it was the best decision I made for little $. However on a grateful dynojet I made less than 300whp (296.4). HFC's will yield less power. The stock exhaust is to restrictive, the inlets for the y pipe are ~2in so with tp's or hfc's your still suffocating the exhaust.

I don't know how it is in Pittsburgh but unless you're on the sniffer you won't have a problem. NY uses an OBII, if you aren't throwing any codes, which I won't be then you'll pass. However, if you're dumb enough to go to an anal shop that will put your car up on a lift or crawl under they won't pass you even with hfc's because you "modified" the stock cats.

It's wishful thinking to get 30whp with HFC's and a tune, frankly hfc's don't make a big enough difference where I would even throw down for a tune. You would have to get it retuned again after add more bolt ons ie. intakes, pulleys, headers, etc.

Nismo370 09-16-2010 11:07 PM

My Nismo was the one that made 338whp n almost 260trq btw....
