Stillen G3 Intake + CBE = too lean?
Hey guys,
I am thinking about installing the Stillen G3 intakes, as well as an CBE in the very near future. To prep for the install, after installing these 2 mods, would I need to have the car tuned? I searched and noticed that if you have intake+header+exhaust+hfc, you would definitely need a tune. Thanks again for any advice. |
Unless your done with all your breather mods, then I say you could hold off. I usually get my tune when am done with all bolt ons. You might be a littel lean, but i really dont think it should be anything to be too worried about

Is it really necessary to get the Z tuned with only the Stillen G3 intakes and CBE? Just curious because that's all I have done.

No, you won't be running too lean with the Gen 3's and our CBE..
Running those in conjunction with the high flow cats AND headers will get you into an unsafe lean position without retuning the car to bring the A/F ratio back in line. Just HFCs or headers is also fine in addition to Gen 3's and a CBE, just not both. I hope that helps. |

Stillen has done a GREAT job of keeping the intake calibration in check with the G3 intakes and their exhaust components compliment them perfectly....

Target A/F Ratio and Target Timing at WOT
Can't seem to find this info, maybe I'm not so good at searching...
I know for Twin Turbo Z32s it is 11.5 and 18 degrees to be on the safe side with 93 octane. What is the proper target Air Fuel Ratio and Timing for the Z34 at WOT on 93 octane? |
Ok...just to make sure I'm reading this right...If you have the Stillen G3's, and HFC and CBE combo you're good...not running too lean and won't need a tune...but if you add a header or anything else more on top of this three combos you will need a tune right? Did I read that right?

I have Stillen's Gen 3 Intake, Invidia Cat Back & Invidia test Pipes installed.
I got my car dyno tuned last week at Ivey and the A/F stayed exactly the same (so says the dyno print out) As for running too lean, i'm assuming you have nothing to worry about. I thought I would see some type of change in the ratio but I guess the ECU auto adjusted??? Or no change was needed. Maybe someone with more tech knowledge can chime in here. |
As we've said.. with the addition of headers to your setup there is some concern for the ECU's ability to adapt and could cause a lean condition.. but not with just the addition of intakes.
Enjoy! :) |
Good job guys, great product!
