Hks fcon is

just wondering what is the difference between hks fcon, cobb and uprev tuning capabilites......?

other than the brand issue...just want to know, how it varies with each other in terms of set-ups options...

I would say that Cobb is the easiest to set up and tune but until they unlock the full tuning potential I won't be buying one. I like that the Cobb APs have the option to reflash back to the stock tune for dealership runs. Uprev and HKS aren't as user friendly. Not that many tuners can use the HKS software either.

Uprev is just as easy, only difference is there is no prebuilt device to do it.
Uprev uses your computer (laptop) to transfer the information through a USB to OBDII cable they produce, you can easily switch from stock to tune just as quickly as Cobb.

Does uprev show real time monitoring? A/F ratios, inlet temps, VVEL actuation percentage, fuel temp, water temp, 02 sensor readings (individually), battery voltage, clear SES codes, show them, have a 0-60 calculator and dyno?

UpRev - Engine Management

Read & enjoy, tuning software is pretty simplistic and most all do the same thing, really it comes down to the tuner & their knowledge of your car (well engine specifically) and its capabilities. The real dividing gap with the 370z will be who unlocks VVEL, one of the very reasons I have yet to tune my car.

Red370 05-20-2010 06:53 PM

Already read up on it, only thing I wish the AP did was to be able to change maps on the fly like the Uprev, thats pretty fancy.

does HKS offer base maps on the Fcon?
i would go with cobb or uprev, they are simple. Fcon really pro but expensive to my knowledge. a complete ECU re-flash is the way to go in the modern cars, i usually try to avoid piggy back computers unless there is no such flashers of such

1 concern for me with UPREV is the uninstall, do they still need you to return the ECU to them to remove their image/flash? if this is true then in a way they are locking your ECU for you and cutting your options to remove easily.
Any one with UPREV confirm this, has anyone removed the flash and gone back to stock them selves?
I ask ,as if this is so , you should be aware of it, I had a vehicle previously on which I had a 700 dollar cable and reflash then 400 dollar dyno, when I wanted to swap management I had a dead car with no ECU while I waited on the post man..nice

Not knocking UPREV in anyway, it seems to be popular and usable, I have the software and it looks straight forward - I am actually in ATX, going to UPREV next weekend for their DYNO day and to check the place out, got a stock Z in the garage waiting for a baseline 3 pulls with AFR ;-)
