First time getting a tune need help plz

I have gotten a few mods for my car and the last piece for me as iv been reading on is a tune.

Right now I have borla catback/k&n Typhoon CAI/and some art pipes being installed soon.

When I go to a tuner. What am I to ask for? Also what would seem to be a reasonable price in the southeast USA.

Get a remote tune with Sebastian at Specialty Z (you can find pricing on his website). He will take care of you. He is the best tuner out there :twocents:

Sharif at Forged Performance would be my top choice. Vinny at R/T Tuning knows our cars. You have options out there if you search.

Sharif is nice enough, but Forged Performance has had far too many cars catch on fire at their shop for me to ever consider using any of their services :eekdance:

As of now I wouldn’t recommend John at Z1 as I know several people on this forum that have had issues with drivability and if you look at the Z1 tuning menu their dyno fees are quite ridiculous. This guy is open to suggestions here.

:iagree:

I wouldn't use Z1 either.

Sebastian at Specialty Z would be my go-to. Heard nothing but good things about Vinny at R/T Tuning and would not hesitate to go with him either. Dynosty is a solid option as well. Another option is Jon Visconti, who was one of the first VQ guys to work with Ecutek - he can be a little rough around the edges, but his knowledge is up there with the best of them.

Chances are pretty good that when you work with a tuner for this platform, you'll want either an Ecutek or UpRev tune. 99% of people will fall into these 2 tuning suites. If you're not one of them you're either vastly over qualified to be in this thread, or vastly under qualified to own a car - looking at you Bullydog tuner kids! If you're planning on staying naturally aspirated (no turbo/supercharger), UpRev is fine. Otherwise, ask for EcuTek which has better control over fuel tables. Assuming you pick a tuner familiar with this car, you'll also likely tell them your mod list and that should give them a good starting point.

With most tuners, a lot of your price will be the software license. Expect $650 - 800 for it, not counting tuning time. Good luck!

-Don’t ask for Pop N Bang
-Don’t ask for Flame Map
-Don’t ask for Ghost Cam
-Don’t use Admin Tuning

Here are some videos that will get you really familiar with looking at your log data and understanding tuning better. Getting a grasp of these concepts will help you make a better decision with picking a tuner by allowing you to ask the right questions.

Jon tuned my first one at Z1 using UpRev back in 2016’ & never had any issues, car picked up an additional 20whp after I added mods, and was very noticeable
Only thing, I wish I could have watched- but did get a video :ugh2:

Prices are probably around 700’ish for you to make an appointment & they’ll do the rest....I’m unsure about this remote tuning/ but Sebastian does it with Ecutek software & Jon@Z1 does it ar Z1 :ugh2:

Thanks for the help everyone. I had already picked out Z1. I just didn’t want to sound to under qualified to own a car when I called and asked for a tune

I just have a few bolt ons. CAI, exhaust, art pipes
It is my daily driver and I will not be adding turbo/SC

As soon as I get these pipes on I’ll give Z1 a call.
