Specialty Z Off The Shelf vs E-tune

I'm gonna just have breather mods on my 370z.

HFC, K&N drop-ins, post-maf tubes, CNT CBE.

I've been e-tuned before on Uprev with test pipes and it was money well spent only ~$500 for 3-4 diff custom maps through the tuner. After hearing all the good results I'm looking to switch over to an ecutek tune through Seb at Specialty Z

I'm just wondering what difference will I see in an OTS tune vs an E-tune? I'm mostly looking to gain traction control, better throttle response, increase line pressure to the 7AT tranny, drivability, and lastly power. Is the custom tune worth the extra 200 dollars for me? I'm not really looking to squeeze every last HP out of the car just get the best bang for the buck right now (full-time student). Can anyone that has done both comments on it? How much does a new e-tune typically cost once you have the software?

I had the shelf tune for about 3 weeks before I went down for a dyno tune while on vacation. The shelf tune was really close and in reality will probably be just fine for most but I was glad to see there were some zones that needed minor tweaking to the table to keep closer to desired AF ratio, every car is different. Shelf tune was a little lean in upper range if I remember correctly and the car does see track time with sustained higher RPM so I’m glad I did have it perfected.

I basically have what you have. I went off the shelf tune because for my use it was plenty. Seby will also need data logs in all 3 maps to make sure everything is good. Which in my case it was. Ive had my tune since april and i enjoy every min of it. Car feels strong. My tests pipes made the car feel like it was leaning out cause the car didnt feel as strong as it does now.

For a DD, an OTS tune may be good enough. But they are one-size-fits-all, so, to get maximum benefit, you need a dyno (or remote) tune (as mentioned above, every drivetrain is slightly different). Is the few HP worth the money to you?

Personally, I'd go ahead and spend the "extra" $200 - if one is going to do it, one might as well do it right.

If you already have UpRev then your best option is probably to pay somebody to eTine you with UpRev. It’ll be a lot cheaper since you already have the software (unless you don’t own an UpRev cable). UpRv has added some options to their software that has closed the distance between it and Ecutek. Ecutek is still better but not as much so as t was when It first came out.

I have the Ecutek OTS tune and it's been great.

Does the OTS tune come with the flat foot shifting and throttle hijacked?

No, but I think you can get the option for it.

Are you able to turn off the traction control with th OTS?

I have the OTS tune from Seb, and I'm more than happy with it. I can't recomend Seb enough.

Like fully disable it? I don't think so, but I think there is a mod you can look up in the DIY section on the370Z.com.
