how much boost are you running

Guys I am getting tuned and my tuner is saying that i should keep it at 12 psi with my aam TT kit...i was thinking that the norm would be at 15..what are you all running

Jayhovah 11-13-2017 05:22 PM

15 is quite a bit, but its kind of an apples-to-oranges conversation unless you are comparing to someone with similar mods and kit...

my wastegate pressure is set to 8.5psi, but I can creep all the way to 10.5psi.

This depends on mods and the type of fuel you are running. My over boost is set to 15 psi and my max boost is 14 and that is on e90. I don't think I was ever over 12 even on race fuel. It also depends on how much torque your motor makes. Some motors make good whp and the tq is manageable. Mine makes tq and so my top in whp is limited. My last tune Seb kept my whp to 610 because my tq was 560. Most motors pushing that much tq are at about 650whp on a stock motor.

Yah either way I am letting this tuner do his job and I am still going to be sending Seb my maps after and see if he recommends anything different

Don't run 14-15psi on pump gas. You will have a bad time.

I run 13.5-14psi max on E85. Power numbers below

Z1 tunes both cars ... no issues yet ... 12.5 lbs on supercharger for over 2 years no issues 13 lbs on turbo no issues ...stopped at 13 only cause of boost controller issue that I had to correct was going to 15 ..... both on 93 octane

On a stock bottom end (rod's especially) i've seen 15-16 to be the high boost settings on e85,,,though some have ventured to 17'ish.
12-13 sounds pretty good for 93 octane fuel.....It appears 600ft.lbs. to be the line not to cross on the stock block also (if you want to get some life from it).
I'm not boosted yet; but i do pay attention to build threads,,,meth injected 93 boost allows a bit more /as it keeps cylinder temps cooler; but your tuner doesn't want to see you go "BOOM" on his Dyno either.
Use quality/consistent fuels.
