Has uprev or any software cracked VVEL?

I searched and read plenty of threads about an hours worth before the flames begin...

My tuner was looking at the software before we go uprev and he said well damn that's disappointing looks like Uprev has the maps but still unchangable.

I read the GTM was working on cracking VVEL. If that's the same company for turbos aern't they dead in the water at the moment?

Anyway I'm just trying to get the right software the first time since it's not cheap anyway around it. However it is kind of disappointing if it's still not cracked. I thought I read somewhere they had cracked or "almost" cracked it and I'm wondering if it's because I have a 2015 it's just not available for this year yet.

I also read ECUTECH did somewhere but I've heard a lot of things ECUTECH "did" I've been reading posts from 2011 to present and haven't found reliable information. So if someone who is competent with current tunes please enlighten me?

**THIS IS NOT A WHO'S BETTER THREAD JUST A HAS VVEL BEEN CRACKED AND IF SO BY WHOM**

Thanks in advance,

Nef

Uprev w/ protuner cable allows you to adjust VVEL.

See further here http://www.the370z.com/south-east-re...-thread-7.html

Yup you can tune VVEL with UpRev, my tuner does it on every tune.

NefariousZ34 05-27-2015 10:54 AM

Ok so it's the cable that's stopping us or do you mean the tuner software vs standard?

Few more questioins so my tuner said that I can't just buy a license anymore? Like the standard base tune for 250 on their website? He says you have to buy the whole tuner kit? That can't be right considering Z1 charges around 600 to dyno tune the car they would be loosing money.

I'm confused and aggravated atm the closest pro tuner on their website is about 3 hours away I already e-mailed them my VIN so they can see if it's been cracked which my local tuner plugged in and said that the rom is available for my part number. He also said he has to pro version so WTF? Why can't I just buy a license? I'm assuming what he has is just for one vehicle and there is something else you would buy as a shop to sell licenses with all the available options like the cracked VVEL etc? So if he needs to tune my car I would need a pro tuner license?

edit: Nvm sooo I talked to uprev already pretty much there is no longer a real support for local tuners. They only release the vvel crack to their pro tuners. I'm not going to pay for the tuner version since they specifically said you can't adjust vvel. If that's the case your better off buying the standard. I'm pretty damn aggravated with all this I need a damn tune and can't get a decent one without taking a couple days to get to one of their tuners. Then take in drive time expenses etc I'm well over a grand just for a tune when I have a dyno shop 5 minutes away and a tuner not much further. Any alternatives guys? I'm thinking ECUTECH is looking pretty good right now but that's all e-tune as well unless you're in CT?

Thats not even close to right. You can buy the cable and license for $250 from UPREV's website and have any Etune you car . You obviously have pay the tuner but you can do it. That's what I did. I have ZERO places near me I can trust. I would have to drive 3+ hours one way to Auto Dynamics in NY. I am running an Etune from Seymore4( member here) With AWD8's throttle table. Car is super responsive and I would bet is very, very close to perfect tune wise!

Try contacting Seymore4. BTW he does tune the VVEL timing

Let me clear this up a little. Uprev does allow you to adjust VVEL. However, the way they go about adjusting VVEL is more of a "hack" of VVEL.

Ecutek actually has all the parameters of VVEL named and laid out for the Tuner to adjust the individual characteristics of VVEL.

This is the reason I switched to ECUTEK...

I contacted uprev via phone to get my information they no longer sell the license only the packages. They told my tuner the exact same thing. He said they used to but no longer..

You buy the cable and it comes with a license on it? cable and License is the $550 package. Check their site

Osiris - Standard - Engine Management - Store

NefariousZ34 05-28-2015 03:17 PM

Ya that shotty 550 package is only for etunes yes you have to buy that package to get a license now or find a pro tuner they will not just sell a license I tried. As far as ecutech I have a tuner and dyno local I don't want all this etune **** I want to be able to control my own software and car shouldn't be too much to ask for. Uprev admits not to allowing vvel tuning even with their tuner kit. Its ridiculous either etune or go find a pro tuner to get a tune is your only options...

bullitt5897 05-28-2015 05:06 PM

Well if anyone wants an Osiris license pm me and I will sell you mine for $300...

zguynate 05-28-2015 06:15 PM

If it makes you feel any better, more shops are going to pick up EcuTek tuning in the near future. These new features are enticing, and good shops are going to want to be the first to be able to tune for customers. I'm pretty sure Forged Performance is tuning EcuTek now.

zguynate 05-28-2015 06:17 PM

That sucks that UpRev has axed the tuner version of Osiris. That means mine just went up in value or is now going to be worthless lol.

They are still keeping the tuner version as normal.
nothing change for this.

they just seem to have eliminated the first package that was basically only a license which a Pro-Tuner can do. The new package is the license + the cable to flash your ECU with etuned roms or tuned by the Tuner/Pro Tuner. No different than ECUTECK which aren't allowing anybody to tune your ECU but the shop owner that got the training to do so.

If was in the market for either the Uprev or Ecuteck. I would still choose the Uprev due to the fact that I can tune myself and not rely on a shop with high cost to tune.
But if they would allow it, yeah I would switch to Ecuteck.
