Mile high tuners
Anyone have a good reputable tuner that they have used here in Denver? I know of a few but just checking out my options.

Import Sports!
Talk to Sam 303-752-2422 |
I haven't used them for tuning YET, but MAC Motorsports in Parker have done a great job on all the work I have had done so far and I know they do a lot of tuning:
Welcome to MAC Autosport |
If you need a 2-way diff installed and broken in, go see Adam @ Mac I used to go drifting with him a lot ; )
For everything else, tuning/ dyno, custom tubro manifolds/ kits, motor sawps ect... go to Imports Sports best and oldest Japanese tuner shop in Colorado. |
MAC Autosports-Nic is the man to see
|
Nick is Adam's older brother, when I meet him I was driving a Nissan S-13 red-top SR20 swap. At the time, Adam had a S-13 coupe with a SR20 swap & a full roll cage. Nick had a Saab... he was building and tuning it to drift, and nobody understood why.
I highly recommend again you get your tuning done by Sam, whether it's a Skyline, a RX-7, Supra or your Z Sam can and has tuned them all from street to full race setup. When Mo (Speed Image owner) was building his 350z TT he got Sam to help him with the tune ; ) But up to you~ |
Sam or anyone else at Import sports does not tune uprev. Anyone else?
|
MAC Autosports, is authorized UPREV, look at UPREV website. I have never messed with anyone other then MAC. I have been going to them 2 days after they opened. They built and tuned my Z, help build my 240SX. I have seen some of the "rumor" cars that they either choose not to work on or the vehicle was so bad that it would cost the customer too much money. Call them, go talk to them.

I went to Uprev's website just now, it looks like their base maps are a 1 year paid subscription, is that right?! |

I have had my tune on my car for over a year. I have never heard of anyone running Uprev having to purchase anything additional after the initial cost. Maybe we were all supplied the tuner version?...not sure.

I've heard nothing but good about MAC. |
What is different about the tuner version versus what I must have? If you decide to teach yourself how to tune would you need the tuner version?

So I don't have the tuner version yet a pro-tuner can still create maps, but not me? It is not locked and it was a custom map.
So can I access what I need to for a basic tune? |

Based on the info. there it looks like the Standard product comes with one base tune and a license for 3 e-tunes that expire within a year, but these "e-tunes" are not transferable... So if you bought this used, you don't get any of the e-tunes without buying a new license from them. It sounds like this products is very basic, and the e-tunes are just files you download yourself online after your upgrade your car and select some options from a menu, but I could be wrong. That's just how it reads to me- but it seems pretty clear that the standard model isn't really tune-able, as in you can't take it to a tuner and have custom maps rewritten and saved. Here's their contact info. 512-821-9848 or email sales@uprev.com But be careful from their site it sounds like they will try to sell you a subscription for some "e-tunes" and also state they charge $100- for tech support... If I were you I would sell this system ASAP- |

Not really how it works. You buy a standard license and cable then you can upload a tune as many times as you want. The e-tune is where you tell them your mods, they build the tune map, email it to you and you upload it at home. If you have an uprev tuner then you would have them tune the map and you wouldn't need the e-tune at all. The standard cable is intended to allow you to use cipher to check/clear codes and upload tunes. It is not what you would use to tune. If you want to tune you would upgrade to the tuner cable. That would open up the ability to build your own map or if your tuner doesn't lock their maps to modify your tune map. UpRev is still the primary tuning software for our platform. Ecutek is the only other option and it currently does not allow self tuning. |
Nobody uses Turbo XS/UTEC, GReddy, or HKS anymore? Sorry I've been living overseas the past 3.5 years, but before all the 350z and G35 guys including myself were using mostly UTEC and GReddy. Before two days ago I'd never heard of UpREV and frankly their license fess and support fees rub me the wrong way... I really hope they aren't the dominate engine management for the 370z.

Osiris does with a reflash things that previously required piggybacking or a standalone EMS. |

If you can tune yourself then with UpRev all you need is the tuner version cable and a tuner license. Last I checked that was $700 all in. |

And yes, Uprev is the dominate em for the VHR. We will see what Ecutek will do but that hasn't been out long and is still looking for traction. |
Thanks for the info. guys-
Seems like I'm out of the mainstream thinking for the Z, most likely when I get far enough on my build and have my turbo (I'm thinking single this time) picked out I'll just ask Sam what system he wants to tune with. Either that or I'll look into what the guys are using in Japan. |
